I was having a little prowl through the Ikea site (UK) to see what curtains, bedding I might want and found a duvet set I quite liked, 35.73 pounds for the full size. Then had an inspiration and went to their US site to see if they sold it here and the same thing costs $19.99!!!  :o ??? (Of course, purchase of either would involve an annoying lengthy trek to the store) Anybody else noticed this? Seems crazy to stock up on Ikea linens in North America to transport them back to Europe?!

I'd just buy over here, as on top of that $19.99 - you've got to figure if it would cost you anything extra (shipping? excess luggage? etc?) to get it over here.  I imagine I'd probably end up paying excess luggage fees, if I did that - but if you've got excess luggage anyway with some space (or regular luggage allowance with space), then go for it - a bargain!  :)

I'm going to be shopping for some new bedding for DH's & my bed for the spring, the full whack - mattress cover, sheet & pillowcases set, new summer duvet & pillows (everything but the duvet cover), so hoping I find some deals.  :-\\\\

I'm always sputtering over the cost of a set of pillow cases here -- you can pay $30 for a set of two!! Ridiculous prices even in the supposedly discout stores.  Been stocking up whenever I go to Reny's in Maine.  ;D

You can get 600 (or even 800 or 1000) thread count sheets here for good prices if you know where to look. I've used King of Cotton with good results.

(Can't do much about colours, but I only like tasteful classic white so it suits me. Bright colours aren't restful!)

I can't imagine bring such heavy things as sheets back from the US!!

I intend to go through the boxes stored at mom's to find some of my Pampered Chef and Tupperware toys. Oh how I miss them! Is there anything similar to Pampered Chef here? I've already brought over far more clothes than I have storage space for, so coming back from this next trip I am going to concentrate on foods I can't get here and some of my kitchen stuff. I 'need so many things for the kitchen but every time I think of buying something, I think 'but I already have one'... it just happens to be 4000 miles away.

Me, too! I usually end up getting a ton of blueberry bagels for the freezer, but apart from that, just the odd box of Cinnamon Life or Kashi Good Friends cereal, and maybe some non-HFCS apple butter to save me making my own.

For non-food stuff I get Neosporin (cream + pain relief), Cover Girl perfect point plus eyeliner (I've never found anything else even remotely like it!), and Alleve by the bucketful.

There's an a really nice organic supermarket in Ealing which does huge jars of organic Apple butter for about £3, I'll look up the brand for you next time I'm there if you want and take a picture :)

I've just stocked up on Levi's Curve ID jeans. $40 a pair at Macys O_O, they cost 100 squid for the boot cut pairs on levis.co.uk

The boy did the same as he only wears Levi jeans as well :)

Food wise we get Salt lick BBQ sauce and that's about it. He does pretty well with stuff in the UK, we make everything from scratch and he has a take it or leave it attitude, if he's here he'll eat it and then forget about it until the next time he's home :)

I know they didn't use to have on-line shopping in the US but maybe they do now. However, in the UK you can shop on-line for Ikea and avoid the store all together.

They gave me 10% off because I was using a foreign credit card and don't live in the US. DH was with me, so they have have given it to 'him', but no passport was necessary since the card was foreign.

Is the 10% discount at Macy's or the Levi's shop?
