Loving it!

Me too.  I quite like Matt Smith now; I like that his Doctor is quirky and dark at the same time, and I like this season better than the last because the characters are more developed.  And I do hope the Amy's-maybe-time-lord-baby storyline pays off well.

My theory is that it has something to do with the baby being conceived (?) and gestated in the TARDIS.  Something to do with absorbing energy from the rift/TARDIS/Doctor, etc, that means it can have two human parents but still regenerate.  Or something.  Whatever it is, I hope it's improbable.  DH hates the timey-wimey stuff, but I love it.

Thanks to Nicole5446 for starting up this thread again!  :)

I left it for a bit because I knew persephone was in the US when the new series started & didn't want to spoiler it for her, but she's back & I'm positive she's all caught up now.

We need a Who thread! Hehehe....

This pregnancy stuff is going to be very interesting! I was actually disappointed when Amy said she wasn't pregnant at first, because I thought it would make a great storyline. Maybe she and the Doctor went 10,000 years into the future when Rory was dead yet again, and conceived ... though given the Doctor's aversion to the female touch, this seems very unlikely! I am sure it's just TARDIS energy as has been said.
In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important.

OK, who wants to discuss this week's episode/revelations?  I think I want to watch parts one and two again, together this time.  If Amy hasn't been real for a long time, she must have been swapped out by the Silence, remember they said she had been with them for a long time?  And it was at the end of the first two-parter that she told the Doctor she wasn't actually pregnant, but real Amy clearly was still pregnant and Flesh Amy wasn't.  Rumour is that next week's episode reveals who River Song really is, so maybe it's true after all that she's Amy's time lord baby?  Thoughts?

We watched part two again yesterday evening on I-Player, because I was so hammered on Saturday night when we first saw it that it was all kind of hazy in my mind.  :-[

I think it must go back to the Silence too.  :)

I think she's the astronaut who kills the Doctor. She told the Doctor in a previous episode that she's imprisoned for killing the best man she knew. Surely that's the Doctor! I had such hopes for the Flesh Doctor. I had hoped that he would be the one who was killed. I wonder how they're supposed to get out of that one too. The Doctor is supposed to have like another 9 regenerations or something and the way the Doctor goes on, I doubt he'll be able to keep his current body for another 200 years.

It's going to be so twisty turny that it'll make my head spin.

I've been thoroughly enjoying this season.  I think the characters are coming into their own, and I love how twisted the storyline is feeling.  It's making me think every week, which is fun.

Ooh, Ashley, I think you must be right about her being the astronaut!  This week is the last episode before the break; I'm going to go crazy waiting for all this twisty-turniness to sort itself out.

DS said he saw somewhere that Karen Gillan is going to leave after this season (?) A new companion would make for even for convolutions.

That would be such a shame. I'm really enjoying Amelia Pond. I did not like Martha Jones and was glad when she finally left. Of course, no one is is good as Rose Tyler.

The Doctor is supposed to have like another 9 regenerations or something

The unofficial rule is that the Time Lords usually have 12 regenerations. So as you can see, the writers will be put in a tight spot soon...but there have been ways they've gotten around the rule before, so I wouldn't be surprised if they dream up some other way for another actor (hopefully a girl next time  ;) )

I love Matt Smith, but the way he talks in interviews and such makes it seem that he won't be playing the Doctor for a very long time...but this just may be the impression that I get.

Yeah I was looking that up earlier, but seems there's all sorts of loopholes - I think he got some extra credits for his stint in the Time War & all.  :)

River can't be Amy's baby 'cause when she died she didn't regenerate and the baby clearly can. I think the Doctor who got shot, the one who invited everyone to his funeral, was a Flesh Doctor and not the one we think of as real.
