The unofficial rule is that the Time Lords usually have 12 regenerations. So as you can see, the writers will be put in a tight spot soon...but there have been ways they've gotten around the rule before, so I wouldn't be surprised if they dream up some other way for another actor (hopefully a girl next time  ;) )

When the Doctor's daughter Jenny was brought back to life, I wondered if they'd eventually use her as a new Doctor. Interesting as Georgia Moffett is the daughter of Peter Davison and "engaged" to Tennant.

He can most likely take over another person's body, like the Master....it would be interesting if he did that instead of one of his regenerations, and then he had to deal with the guilt of taking a human body, etc.
In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important.

River can't be Amy's baby 'cause when she died she didn't regenerate and the baby clearly can. I think the Doctor who got shot, the one who invited everyone to his funeral, was a Flesh Doctor and not the one we think of as real.

I'll vote for this one!  :)

Yeah, they hinted at that on the Beeb America trailer. I must say, I get more and more confused every week  ???

Look on the bright side - at least we don't have to wait a crazy number of months (until the Christmas special!) to see him again.  We're getting some now, some in autumn, and then Christmas too.

Btw, people in the US haven't seen the mid-season finale yet (ppl like Boston Diner) - they've been running it on BBC America, but I think they're a week behind after the Memorial Day weekend.

So put spoilers behind a cut for a week or so.  ;)

Come now, pay closer attention & take notes!  :D

Yes! Thank you. We just had "The Almost People" last Saturday. After which they announced the "exciting" next episode would be this coming Sat. and then a "summer break"  We squawked -- what!? They only just started this series, it seems.

I had to come on here for a tiny brag because you are some of the few who will understand.  I got series 5 of the new dr. who on blueray as a 'I've survived 5 full years here' gift from dh!  I'm super excited.  :)  I think we'll finally use our blueray player this week!

I believe they're married now. At the very least they have a baby, a little girl.

And at least half of my theory was wrong. Oops.

OK JUST watched the final episode...I was waiting for On Demand to post the episode but it still hasn't, so I found a streaming copy floating around online! And MAN was it a doozy.

The big River Song reveal was already spoiled for me, but I still found it touching. Also loved the supporting characters in this one. But I don't like it when the Doctor gets all angry and scary  :o

I know I'm late to the game but it was still an exciting episode...can't wait to see what 'Let's Kill Hitler' has in store!

Since the series has started up again, I figured I'd restart the thread:

My new theory is that
Spoiler: show
when Melody/River gave the Doctor the rest of her regenerations that she didn't just "spend" them on saving his life, but "gifted" them to him and that's how they'll get around the "time lords regenerate 13 times" thing.
If that makes sense.
