FLR(M) question
« on: April 26, 2011, 12:14:29 PM »
We've just booked in for an appointment at Croyden to have our application considered. Two questions:

1) How long do appoinments take, assuming ours is a straight-forward application?

2) Do they take my wife's passport and send it back with the ID card, or do we walk away with her passport?

3) Does she need to be in when the ID card is delivered (she is the applicant) or could I sign for it?

Thanks

1)  Depends what time you've booked!   The later the appointment, the longer it'll take as they ALWAYS have a backlog.  I'd budget for at least 3 hours.

2)  You'll get her passport back on the day - the ID card will be sent to you in the post 1-2 weeks later.  They'll give you a letter saying she's approved that you can use in the meantime (though the letter is not the visa, so do NOT leave the country until the ID card arrives!)

3)  You can sign for it providing you have 2 forms of ID for her.

Thanks MalcolmB.

We've booked in a 9 am, so hopefully we won't have the backlog issue. I have a day off work anyway, and I've always wanted to spend time in Croydon ;-)

We are meant to be going out to the States for a week around 3 weeks after her appointment. From what I've seen on delivery times, we should have it back by then. My only thought was: if we have't got it back, she could head to the states without me (she has plans to go earlier than me anyway), and I could wait to receive the ID, and take it with me to the States. She'll then have it for her return to the UK.

Re ID: what is acceptable? Passport, bank card, driver ID, anything else?

Any of those forms of ID should be fine.
