Double Stuffed Oreos now available
« on: May 05, 2011, 04:01:13 PM »
Well, kind of available!

They had signs for them in Sainsbury's, and they're also 1/3 off right now, but they were all out. :( Still, when I find them... ;D

I had a little chuckle on seeing the advert for them: 'brand new' double-stuff Oreos!  They must be 20 years old or more.  But I guess new is relative!

Haha, I know... They've been around as long as I can remember! But I was always a big fan, so I'm pretty excited that there's one more thing that I don't have to do without. :)

Got both at our Asda. I only bought the small, £.98 versions(one of each), but, I was still a happy camper. I haven't noticed any difference, but, that's probably just myself. :D

I notice a difference in the texture of the cookie part. If you dip in milk, it won't go soggy. It may be strange, but I love to do that. :P

DH picked me up some from Tesco on his way home today. ;D They're great. Still the texture issue, but I'm not complaining.

I noticed that the cookie's didn't go soggy in my milk but like I said I'm not paying Import prices so I will just deal with my cookies not breaking up in my milk better than nothing in my book. ;)  :)

If I were to guess, the primary difference (and I looked at the ingredient listing US to UK) is that the US Oreos contain high fructose corn syrup (as so many US products do), whereas the UK Oreos do not (glucose & fructose syrup, yes, but not HFCS).  That might explain why the US ones degrade more readily in milk?

On the odd occasion when I buy Oreos here, I think they taste fine.  A friend at work had some Double Stuff ones recently that she brought back from the US & my gut hurt right after eating those.

Ya know we brought US Oreo's back last year and I have had them in the freezer in baggies.  I don't really eat candy or cookies but the DSD's wanted some because friends said they were better so we brought some back.
I have tried them here and they taste different but I never buy them anyway since we don't eat them.

After reading this last night I ate 3 of them lol
Yay it confirmed I dont do sugary candy stuff.  Salt? Chips? Yes thank you

I haven't seen them locally but I will be watching. I do get a giggle over 'new' things that we've had in the States forever. Now I wonder how long it will take for the mint Oreos, peanut butter Oreos and Golden Oreos to make it over here.  ;D

Oh only if hydrox cookies still existed. Far superior to oreos in either country!  :P
