New Yorican tired of fake Sherwood Forest - Moves to the Real thing!

Hi Everyone!

I'm a newlywed New Yorker, Puerto Rican Heritage, living in Nottinghamshire since October of 2010.

I absolutely love it here, and have found two fellow expats to share with!

I'm 38, full of sarcasm and have a crazy sense of humor.  I love travel, reading, music, the internet, cooking (I must represent my people!), jewelry making and spinning all types of yarn (yes, the local sheep have been warned of my presence).

I also love Renaissance Faires (having participated in some form for the past....um...12? years).  And, being that my local faire was set in Sherwood Forest, with the story of Robin Hood, the joke was born that I got tired of playing at it, and moved to the real thing (I'm just a town over from it).  Also love their music, pub songs and sea shanties; bawdy and not so bawdy; cantarias and bag pipes and drums.

I'm in South Yorkshire, but near Sherwood.  I also work in Retford.

Funnily enough, my in-laws recently ran into a woman in the gift shop, who said she was from NY.

We were at Sherwood Forest for the Forest / Edwinstowe May Day celebration earlier this month, were you participating? 

Sadly, no. Can't remember what we were doing but there was a reason we couldn't go.

I wouldn't be surprised if they met someone else from NY. I've already met a fellow expat not only from NYC where I grew up, but spent several years just 15 minutes away from where I ended up moving too. LOL. and she lives just a couple of towns over from me right now.
