What are you currently crafting/making/building/sewing?
« on: May 24, 2011, 08:00:24 PM »
Didn't see a thread like this so I thought I'd start one! Post your current projects of any variety here.

Mine: Currently making a Doctor Who shirt for my 1yo daughter....brown with a red sequin bow tie, and iron-on letters that say "Mini Time Lord".

Also making rings and necklace pendants by decoupaging cut out magazine bits onto wooden coins...I think it may end up looking like crap but I've already gone too far down the rabbit hole to turn around.

So, what's everyone else doing???

Great idea for a thread!!

I just finished sewing this stretch lace dress:

The project I'm working on now is a turquoise linen dress with an intricate silver sequin motif I hand stitched around the neckline. I've just got to do the hem and the lining hem and it's done. I'm not sure which dress to wear to our friend's wedding next week!

:o Wow that looks great! Love the seams on the hips!

I wish I had the patience to sew. I just glue things to other things really.

Here is a recent decoupage project, a day of the dead skull:

Did you finish all your favour bags?

I am working on this: http://wendyknits.net/tag/summer-mystery-shawlette/. She's got pictures of other patterns in the posts so it's the redish one, not the teal or the purple shawls.  I like her other patterns so I figured I'd give the "mystery" one a shot.

Ha! No, I've made maybe 2. I've been working on the shawl since about February, but I haven't done much knitting at all lately, just a few rows here and there. The shawl is a gift for one of our photographers, so I want to get it finished soon. Then I can think of a gift to make for the other photographer, and then back to the bags! :P

Enlist help! If you can get all the supplies together, it goes really fast when you can get helpers going on an assembly line. We made SO many things for our wedding, and the lavender bud confetti bags and the organza flowers went so much quicker with others helping. There's no way I could've done either by myself. Funny how many people are willing to help if you make an evening of it with a bottle of wine and wedding craft!

My crafty mission tonight is to get going on my freezer paper stencil for my running vest. "Two years post transplant" doesn't really fit with the redesign of the Anthony Nolan vests, so I think I'm going to go for "2 years!" on the back shoulders, and "transplantee" under my name on the front. But cutting out all those letters with an exacto knife is really dull...

I'm just seeing this thread!

Am I allowed to say that my big crafting project is actually just to get all my stuff organized? I've got tons of things I want to start but everything is in such disarray (plus mixed with kids' toys) that I can't cope with it. :P
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Thanks for the kind words all...next project may be a tulle tutu for her.

And balmerhon, it doesn't help that crafting supplies seem to be nigh impossible to find in England...

What kind of stuff are you after? I don't really have any problems finding good quality sewing and haberdashery supplies...

I am afraid I'm a special case because when I'm in England, I live in the town centre with no car. So I have only a few places that are easily accessible : a small, overpriced fabric store, an even smaller overpriced paper shop, and The Works, which mostly caters to the kiddos :D

I am currently putting together a no-sew tutu for my daughter (red and pink). Pretty easy so far. Here's a few links:
