Hello,  :)  not sure where you are in the UK but for cheap craft supplies in the north east I love Boyes, its a shop with just about anything and everything!

http://www.boyes.co.uk/

My project is currently adjusting a jumper that my husbands mum knit for him but was too big so we hot washed it .. And it got even bigger? So we tumbled it and it became massive!! (we think it must have been acrylic maybe) so Ive taken off the arms and trying to make new seams, Struggling!!!

I usually end up getting most of my fabric and haberdashery online, as I figure the shipping cost is usually less than I'd pay for an Oystercard return to the West End or Goldhawk Road anyway. And sometimes German or Dutch shops are cheaper than UK ones, and you don't get hit with the extortionate shipping and customs charges like you do from US shops.

I just finished this linen dress, using a silver and sequin motif that I'd bought in Paris and painstakingly sewed on by hand...

Much more about the dress here...

I cast on my first pair of socks. 1x1 rib on 2.5mm needles is, um, just this side of excruciating. I've also got a baby sweater and a lace triangle shawl in the works. Yes, I have knitting ADD, why do you ask?

As for getting supplies, I live in a city in Scotland and it's pretty slim pickings - there are two little haberdashery shops and a cross-stitch store though one of the haberdashery stores recently tripled their yarn selection which is making me very happy. For most haberdashery stuff I'm fine with buying online, but I like to touch yarn.

I also refuse to call yarn "wool" unless sheep were involved in its creation. Why do Brits call all spun fiber wool?

I wish I could knit; luckily, I have a lot of knitting friends who like making hats and things for my daughter.

Speaking of, here is a newly-complete tutu (and mini-tutu for stuffed bunny!)

In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important.

squirrellypoo: I had a look at your other work and it's amazing.  Where did you learn to sew? Do you recommend anywhere to buy a used machine? Do you recommend any particular shops in the West End? I am contemplating taking a short course at the London College of Fashion.  Sorry for all the questions, but this is a skill/art that I am dying to learn.

p.s. the grey (and pink?) lace dress is gorgeous and looks amazing on you.  i am so impressed.

I'm finally finding a little bit of extra time on my hands (won't last long though) so I'm going to get back into a few crafty projects.

I've cut the fabric to make an extra high chair cover (it gets dirty so quickly that I need at least 2, probably more, to rotate while the others are in the wash) just need to sew it together.

I'm also working on an idea for the baby's name in his nursery but I haven't fully decided how I want to do it yet...but hopefully I'll figure this out soon!

I have three picture frames that I want to put some kind of crafty things inside...possibly cross-stitching...so I need to sort that out too.

I guess I'm in the same boat as pp mentioned and need to get myself organized first, then start on the actual projects!

Thank you! It's not much really, I just scan the net for crafts and try to replicate them. Selling on etsy has never appealed to me much, I guess because I don't consider myself original as such. It's nice to be able to piece things together for myself though!

Lovely! I wonder, squirrelly, do you actually save money by sewing your clothes? I know fabric can be expensive - or is it purely for the joy of it?

New duct tape creations, using leopard print Duck Tape brand...

All for the hair: a flower, a big bow, and a small bow. Very easy! Here are the instructions I used if anyone's interested in playing with duct tape:
