I actually was on no prescription medication in the US, but since getting back to the UK have started taking blood pressure pills
As for prescription drugs being advertised on TV, this would happen here if it wasn't illegal for the drug companies to do so over here. The reason is that they want patients to ask for drugs by name if the doctor is going to prescribe something.
