Hello Everyone
« on: May 26, 2011, 08:32:48 AM »
Hi All,

New to the forum and my very first post.  I am a UK citizen living in the US.  I left when I was a little girl (5 yrs old to be exact)  and now I am currently in grad school. I plan on returning when I complete my studies next year.  I'm glad I found this site as  I will be needing lots of help before I make my big move.  It's so ironic, I know more about the American culture than I do about the British culture.

I will be moving to London, but I'm not sure where.  I plan on getting a job before I make my move, so I'm guessing that looking at particular areas now would be counterproductive.

Anyway, even though my big move won't be until around the end of next year, there is so much to do and I wanted to get an early start. I'll try not to ask too many questions :)

Welcome Bridgette to UKY.

Never fear asking questions and the advanced search is amazing, you will be surprised how much you can find.  Good luck on the job search!

Hello and welcome!  Enjoy a read through the food talk and the expat life section.  You'll see what we all miss, or have a hard time getting used to!

Welcome Brigette,
I'm new here too ;)

In a world of bleak wilderness, filled with strange Immigration Offices and lots of red tape, this website is such a refreshing place to be.  It's got some lovely, helpful people and a huge archive of experiences.

I live in London, and adore it here, but may be giving it up to move to the US.

Just see it as a nice big adventure :)

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome and words of encouragement.  I so appreciate it as I am finding the process a bit overwhelming.

Is there a particular reason why you are moving back to the US?

My Fiancee is in America, so it's a case of, in order to be together we need to be in the UK or the States, but for me ... I don't really care where.

Despite the fact that Americans Luuuurve us English people :p

Alright, that "may" be a bit strong, but ... I do get good service at restaurants over there :D
