Good London Hostels?
« on: May 31, 2011, 04:41:15 PM »
Anyone got any recommendations for a good London Hostel, i.e. not too dodgy and I can get a room for 1 or 2 persons, and hopefully located near St John's Wood/Marylbone/Regents Park and needed for 2 nights.  Or any other cheap accommodation suggestions?  I know cheap and London don't go in the same sentence which is why I'm asking!  Thanks!

We've stayed in an easyHotel before and cant complain. BASIC accommodation but a good price (last time paid about £30? and using them again in July and paid £60 for a room with a window)

We've only used the one near Hyde Park and were suprised that the bed was comfy, bedding was warm and we could adjust the heating/ac in the room. The bathroom (really a wet room, so dont keep towels or loo roll in while bathing) was tight but usable. The room was VERY clean (no carpeting, just industrial vinyl flooring) and small but workable with two large suitcases in them. Theyre perfect rooms if only using them to sleep and have somewhere to keep your belongings.

When are you going? If you're there in the summer the unis rent out their halls of res for an absolute steal :) Just google the main unis and you can get all sorts of accomodation across London, some of it very central.

It's not exactly the neighbourhood you're looking for, but I stayed at this place (http://www.astorhostels.co.uk/#/en/page/kensington/) in South Kensington, and it was pretty decent for under £20.  They have other locations too, I believe.

*hops on thread* I'd really appreciate some recs for a London B&B for some relatives of mine who are coming over for the wedding. One of them is elderly and the rest are middle-aged, so I'd rather book them a place with a few more comforts and a nicer location than what my cheap ars* would normally go for, but still with a reasonable price (<£90 per room per night preferably). Any thoughts?

DH has been using the Penn Club www.pennclub.co.uk quite a bit lately. It's located in Bloomsbury. Not sure what their rates are but certainly a lot lower than hotels. If you become a member it's even cheaper.
Is this over the summer vac., PB? Because you could check out the various U. of London accommodations. We're staying in an Imperial College hall in August (right behind Albert Hall)
