Pasta Shells
« on: June 10, 2011, 12:07:16 AM »
I'd like to make stuffed shells like I did back in America, but I can't seem to find the large shell-shaped pasta. Wikipedia says it's one of the most popular pasta types in the UK; I haven't had such luck finding it.

Has anyone made this dish and/or knows where to find this pasta?

wish I could help, I have never been able to find them-- can find small shells but not large ones for stuffed shells.

I'm sure I've seen them at some point.....I'd try a gourmet deli type of place.  We've got two places in Horsforth that probably have them,  where are you located?  We've got a regular deli with lots of Italian imported stuff and another deli which has even more Italian stuff.  I could look and see if they have them and post them to you?  Unless you find them near you first....

Thanks Andee. I don't live far off from Horsforth, but I don't drive so it might be awkward to get to. Those deli places sound interesting though! Some "real" Italian cheeses would be nice to find, too.

Waitrose carries them. :)

Thanks - I will have to have a look there for them.  :)

Not sure but I *think* one of the delis that Andee is referring to, is actually Salvos in Headingley (not in Horsforth in that instance).

Which if you're near enough to Meanwood Waitrose, you wouldn't be terribly far (I don't think) from Salvos.  If you're talking Otley Waitrose then that's further away.

The Horsforth deli is this one.

Oh yeah - we also have another deli that opened more recently near me, that I haven't even been to - d'oh!

Yeah, new deli in Horsforth.  I saw some shells and other interesting organic pastas at Millie's Organic in Leeds city centre--just a couple shops in from the big Chinese market.
