You apply for FLR(M). You can find out about how to apply on the UKBA website. I can't get the link up right now though cos I'm posting from my phone.

A spousal visa is essentially the same as FLR, but a spousal visa can only be applied for from outside the UK and FLR can only be applied for from inside the UK.

Also, now that you're married you can apply for FLR(M).  The disadvantage is paying £550 for a mail-in application or £850 for an in-person application now, when you might not have had a chance to save up for it yet.
The advantages are: the fees will go up between now and December and as soon as you have your FLR(M) you can get a job, you'll be able to travel in and out of the UK - now that you're married you're not a fiancé.

The Life in the UK test is for ILR. You can take it now if you like, but there is no rush since the earliest you'll be able to apply for ILR is two years after you get your FLR(M), and that time is likely to be extended if the current goverment gets their way. :(
August 2008 - Tier 4 - Student Visa
February 2010 - Tier 1 - PSW
January 2012 - FLR(M)
June 2014 - ILR (finally!)

Quick question not worth starting a new thread over.  I'm slogging through our old post on a mission to get it under control and sort the useful stuff from the useless stuff.  Are P45s are okay for proof of address?

I ask because it wasn't sent by HMRC directly, but rather to me by my former employers along with my final paystubs, but the P45s do have my address on them.  Am I over-thinking??  Are paystubs alright for proof of address as well??

Thanks!  :)

Of course. It doesn't have to be super official stuff. I used a receipt from our wedding venue as one item.
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012

Not sure if this is the right thread to post my quesiton in, but here goes.

My husband and me want to plan on moving back to the US. I have no idea if i can do this while i'm still in the '2 year' regulation period for the spousal visa. Will this hurt my ability to come back to visit the UK in the future?

You can come visit, but if you want to return to live you will have to go through the whole process again.

Does anyone know how I should query the NHS about any outstanding debt? I received treatment at my local surgery and the hospital when I was here as a visitor. Do I contact those places or is there like a big corporate billing place I can contact? I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of blank looks if I try the surgery.
In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important.
