This is the single most fascinating thread I have read on this forum.  Thank you for sharing your amazingly horrid story with us!!!

I would have a VERY hard time giving this woman a single penny.  From what I have heard, I do not feel that you even owe for the three nights.  If she didn't bother telling you the price until AFTER the 6 week cancellation limit had passed then that is HER mistake.  Your husband's provisional booking a year ago does not at all hold you responsible in my mind.  To me, an "official" transaction for goods and services only takes place when the price is known and agreed upon by both parties.  This woman booked the whole barn lot deal package thingy without consulting and finalizing with her guests.  That is a risk she took upon herself and an oversight she should have to pay for.  I, personally, would not feel duty-bound to pay her based solely on my husband saying a year ago that he would probably end up coming for three nights.  Maybe that makes me low-class, but this woman would NOT be receiving a bank deposit from me.  I would feel horribly awkward in your situation if my husband wanted to remain friends with this man, so that clearly complicates things.  However, the whole Hitler thing is the nail in the coffin for me.  No way would she get a single cent from me.  And the friend vomitting on your window?? yeesh.  I bet they used the room when you weren't there anyway.

In your shoes, my dream reaction would be to make a very public post on her facebook wall informing her that a 100 pound donation has been made in her honor to [some organization dedicated to supporting immigrants' rights and/or multiculuralism in general or any other decent thing to which she would be opposed].  Then include a snarky remark about how 100 pounds will only go so far when there is CLEARLY a lot of work to be done in terms of educating ignorant people, as clearly witnessed at a certain recent event."

I like that idea ;)

But, we ARE going to pay it.

Matty said yes, and Ben is a longtime friend... (Although I personally believe that the friendship has ALREADY come to an end, because she is not going to allow him to be friends with anyone she deems unworthy - and she WILL deem ALL his friends unworthy - that is just they type of chick she is...) so we will pay the puta.

I don't want it to become, "I am no longer friends with Ben because my wife and his wife do not get on."

I would rather it be, "I am not friends with ben because Ben's wife is a crazy puta."

That, alone, is worth 100 pounds to me!

If we DO end up getting them a wedding gift: "make a very public post on her facebook wall informing her that a 100 pound donation has been made in her honor to some organization dedicated to supporting immigrants' rights" THIS WILL BE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder what Ben's NEXT wedding will be like.

LOL!!! Sweetpeach-I accidentally mixed up this wedding with the one you're going to in the Yorkshire Dales. Sorry, again.

Ben may not have anymore money being married into a debt collector's family. May be you could donate the 100£'s to Amnesty International or Oxfam. Too bad you can't pay the debts off for a family owing money to Steph's grandfather's company. Then at least some good could come out of this messy situation. I'd love it if I could be there and watch her get called a "puta" along with some other choice Spanish phrases/insults! :)

If she posts something on facebook again, I think you should go over to her page, all concerned, and ask her "very nicely" if they are having money troubles after all their extravagance and didn't get enough of the donations they asked for for the honeymoon, because she MUST be struggling to be desperate enough to inconsiderately post publicly about someone else's finances on their FB page.

You could suggest that she sell her Vera Wang dress on EBay

I've just read the entire post. From 1-9. Lara, I don't know how you even managed not to say anything when the fake Hitler came walking by you. It's amusing that she doesn't like immigrants, but, Vera Wang designed her dress, and I'm sure one or two people out of England worked on making her dress. I can't even....oh geez! There are no words in English that I can say to properly express my disgust with this person. Kudos to you for being strong enough to tackle Bridezilla and the entire situation.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

I made the mistake of not paying attention to this thread.  In my defense, I only read the thread title and assumed, as a man who can not buy decent shoes for himself without help, I would be of no use whatsoever.  Thankfully, today I clicked on it for some reason, and found page upon page of hilarity.  Thanks, LaraMascara, for posting it, and for not letting the ba$tards get you down.   :)

Sooooo... We are REALLY broke... And my husband just sold his drum kit. He had too.

It sucks. I sold my cameras.

The GOOD news....

Puta Loca will be paid on Monday.

Wire/bank whatever transfer.

If someone said, "Would you pay 100 pounds to have this woman out of your life forever?" THE ANSWER WOULD BE YES.

So, OK, good deal. DONE.

OH, IT IS 110 POUNDS that we "owe" her.

I just added up what we spent for this wedding... The room, my outfit - 75 pounds, the gas, the bus bill we were hit with for the five minute ride from the after party back to where we were staying... OVER 375 POUNDS TOTAL.

That's funny. I was just thinking that the title of this thread now has almost nothing to do with the content, and people looking at the list of threads are going to think we are a bunch of shallow, vain women who have nothing to do but spend 9 pages (or however many there are) talking about dresses. I probably would never have looked at it myself if I wasn't having wedding problems of my own. (But this thread is far superior to mine when it comes to entertainment value.)

Lara, I was thinking that you should deduct the cost of the bus fare from the £100.

I was wondering if anyone got a photo of "Hitler".  It would be lovely to post on Facebook for his boss/colleagues/important business contacts to see.
