Broad/field/fava beans
« on: June 27, 2011, 09:20:05 AM »
We've been getting them every week in our veg box.  I've curried and roasted them, and I made a bean dip to dip veg batons in them.  I think we've got more coming this week.  If it were colder, I'd make a stew, but it's warm to hot.

Mr A says his mum used to just boil them and serve them drained (no seasoning, salt, butter, or gravy).  He hated them.  He liked the dip and didn't mind the curried ones.  Any suggestions for ideas (other than with a bit of liver and a nice chianti)?

I love them roasted and then used in pasta with some parmesean. I think the salty taste from the cheese makes the fava beans taste fab.

Abel and Cole is sending them, and has quite a few recipes on their site for what to do with them. I haven't tried any yet, but some of them look interesting.
