She asked for advice on baby names, not for people to judge other names.
There are people on this site either with those names or with children with those names.
How would you like it if someone said something about your Childs name?
So please think about others before posting things that could possibly cause offence

Thank you

Actually, I think this thread is pretty tame. No one here has said 'Tyler is an utterly vile name and I hate it'. People have opinions on names and that was inevitable in a thread like this.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I don't think anyone was being terribly judgmental or mean.  Some people don't like certain names.  No big deal.  My niece is named Madison but I wasn't offended in the least by the comment.

Well it's my daughter's name, not my neice so there's a bit of a difference in that and I'm not really offended. I LOVE that name and happy I chose it ;D Different strokes for different folks! There are names I'm not fond of myself hehe

I wasn't saying I "hated" those names per se. I was just pointing out how it had become a fashion and you wonder how long it will last. Names go in and out of fashion so people with a particular name or type of name can be dated. My MiL had a whole group of friends with names like Flora, Dora and Nora, because that's what was popular then.

Oh I would never insinuate that you "hate" them, that's a strong word within itself. I just stand by my choice and I adore my daughter's name.. it suits her to a T  ;D I know we're not all gonna agree on names. LOL

I think picking a baby name is a totally personal experience and when it comes to be my turn, I'll definitely keep it to myself. Someone will always criticize your choice. I made that mistake with my sister, but what was she thinking with Natalie!  :P I was pretty happy when 'Natalie' came out as an 'Evan' instead!

I totally agree! No need to stir up controversy when none is warranted.

Names mean different things to different people. I could never name a kid Caitlin because I've pretty much hated every Caitlin I've come across (this is a realization I just came to last week based on 26 years of Caitlins so it's not a self fulfilling prophecy). Couldn't do Phillip, because my best friend's brother in law who killed himself was named Phillip. And so on.

Personally, I like Charlotte. Don't really know why. Don't even want kids so hey. BF thinks that John Paul George Ringo is a great boy's name. Yeaaaaaa.....

I love the name Charlotte! No children here and there won't be any, but I always loved the name Alice Rose. So I can see a cat by that name in my future!  ;D
