There's Princess Michael of Kent, though she got that name through her marriage...I always wondered why she had to take a boy's name though none of the other royals did...

It's for the same reason why Kate Middleton would be called Princess William if she hadn't been made a duchess. They married into their title of Princess rather than being born a princess.

Boys names have always been easy for me, Ben, Elliot, Oliver and if I get my way and we happen to have baby boys I'll probably name them after Laker players, lol.

Little girl names are harder for me, tho I really like Cecilia, Azul and Valeria. I'm afraid my boyfriend will want to name them something Welshy that I won't be able to pronounce, lol.

Well, we have narrowed ours down to Callum, and Ben. Hubby still wants to throw Reginald in there.... Ugh.
We stole countries with the cunning use of flags. Just sail around the world and stick a flag in. "I claim India for Britain!" They're going "You can't claim us, we live here! Five hundred million of us!" "Do you have a flag …? "What? We don't need a flag, this is our home, you bastards" "No flag, No Country, You can't have one! Those are the rules... that I just made up!...and I'm backing it up with this gun, that was lent to me from the National Rifle Association."

Haha I'm with you, Reginald isn't my taste either. I think Callum is a fantastic name! Any middle names yet? Best of luck in your choice ;)

Reginald is his dad's name.  He wanted to name our 10 month old Reg. Thing is- his own father hates his name!!! He said he would feel sorry for the baby if we named him Reg. Plus the only reason he wants to do it is because he has a ton of fun "nick names" that he uses on his dad. Regetable the vegetable, the Reg-i-nator, blah blah blah...  I told him naming kids is not something you do so you can make fun of them.

I was hoping to use Callum Benjamin, or maybe Callum James...  I haven't narrowed any girls names down yet- it's too much to think about until we find out what we are having.

I think either or is quite lovely ;) Girls names are tough because there are so many beautiul names to choose from! But I think that's the fun part (picking names) that and shopping for teeny tiny clothes are the best!

It doesn't help that the clothes are SO CUTE and SO CHEAP. Seriously, my daughter can look good for like seven bucks. I can't look nothin' for seven bucks :D
In 900 years of time and space, I've never met anyone who wasn't important.

DH and I are still no closer to picking a boy name. We just can't agree!

I have had a girl name picked out for a very long time now. I love the name, it's not very common but it's not unheard of either. I can only think of 2 other people I know with that name and one lives in Idaho and the other is my granny.

Anyway, I have a friend who is 7 weeks further along then me she lives only a few doors down from us as well and she was talking names the other day (I still haven't shared our name with anyone other then DH). She had the girl name we are using on her list!  :( She had 4 different names they will be picking from so I mentioned to her how much I like the other ones  >:D. I feel kind of bad about that. We will still name our little girl (assuming we have a girl!) this name even if my friend picks the name because we love it and it is a family name. I just don't want people thinking I copied her! Grr! Would you still do it if it were you and your neighbor?

Well, we have narrowed ours down to Callum, and Ben. Hubby still wants to throw Reginald in there.... Ugh.

I like both those names! Leaning more towards Ben but that's just me.  :) What about Reggie? You could still say the name is after your FIL but not so old fashioned.

I think you should keep the name you have- it's so hard to come up with one, and if it's a family name I'm sure your neighbor would understand.. Did you tell her you were keeping the name a secret?

I understand about not wanting to look like your copying anyone. A friend of mine has a boy named Eli, and I have loved that name for a long time. I wanted to use it, but hubby veto'd it and I think if I did use it anyway she might think I stole it from her.  I mean we aren't "that" close of friends... so I might still steal it for a middle name!! ;)

I think hubby would call him Reggy.. Which would bug the living daylights out of me.  It's just one of those names I have no interest in giving my kids.  I feel bad, but I'm beginning to loathe that name!!

According to the BBC, the top names are Oliver and Olivia. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14321666

They also list Charlie and Alfie as popular. Does that mean those are the actual given names, not Charles and Alfred? My mother had an Uncle Alfie, but it was really Alfred.  I quite like Alfred -- but not Alfie.

I like Reginald, particularly when shortened to Reg. That's a really good name.  :)

Yeah, there's a trend of giving nicknames as proper names.  There was a Charlie and an Alfie in my baby class at the hospital.  It's...not my taste.  I prefer giving the full name and then shortening to a nickname if desired.

My husband has heard more than enough on this subject and would cry if he knew I was discussing it.   :D

Did you tell her you were keeping the name a secret?

We are definitely sticking with the name we have already chosen. My friend doesn't know that we have the same name in mind. Only DH and I know the names and we wont share it until after the birth.
