Newcastle area, anyone?
« on: July 26, 2011, 11:01:48 AM »
Hello!

I have been a lurker on here for a little while now and was wondering if there are any expats in the Newcastle area? Or up this way, in general? I have been here for 7 years and haven't really noticed many other Americans around. Surely, there must be!

Hi

I've just come across this site - I'm looking for cool whip equivalent and this site came up in a google search. We live near Newcastle, my husband is american and he has lived here since he was 3 years old. We have just come back from a visit as his family are all there now.

get in touch if you are still looking to meet people.

Well Shady - I didn't realize you were in this area ;-)
Another group from FB is having a Durham meet up today for lunch, if only I had known you were around here.

I have never been to Sunderland as I havent had a reason to go but I am always in Durham to shop or now to get coffee since a starbucks opened!

Durham/Sunderland here :-)

My DH is from Sunderland (family still lives there) and currently lives in Durham.  :)  As soon as I get my butt over there, I'd love to get together.  I'm sending my supporting docs tomorrow after biometrics.  I have my fingers crossed for approval by the end of this week.

I'm JessM's DH and am currently living in Gilesgate, in Durham.  I spent three years here as a student back in 1995-98 and absolutely loved it!  I'm from Sunderland - grew up in Hylton Castle and lived in the city centre until I moved to Durham in July this year.

I'm keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome from Jess's visa application!  I'm very stressed, but hopefully we'll know by end of play Thursday.  I can't wait for her to join me over here :)  I'd love to meet up with other people on here who are from the region.  For those of you that responded to say you live in the North East, where do you all live?

Breathe Jess and Dan ;-) AS long as you have the outline and the right paperwork - you are golden.

Let me know when you get into town.  I am from Texas but living in Spenny and been here almost 2 years (just outside Durham).

Gilesgate is lovely!

I got my visa approval email today.  ;D  I should be moving the first or second week of December.  :)

I know...actually, it's probably not that much colder than PA right now (high of 55F today). :)  At least I'm not coming from Florida or Cali, that would be a shock.

Hi all I am moving to Newcastle in July with the hubby and 3 kids.  If anyone is still doing meetups, PM and let me know.  Husband is from Newcastle but has lived in states for 13 years now!  Lol he says it may be a harder adjustment for him than me, it will be so different since he has left, but it is all new to me and the kids. ;)

I am up for coffee, movies, kiddie playdates, nights out, whatever!  Hopefully some of you are still around, this was kind of an old thread.
