Yeah! Back to school today!
« on: September 02, 2004, 11:11:54 AM »
Well finally a break for me. My two eldest sons (6 and 9) went back to school today. I am home with the baby and my 2 year old, Coby but Coby is so much better behaved when the older ones arent around to torment him. Me and the little ones went for a big shop at Tesco and it was totally uneventful. Ahhh.. a breath of fresh air! Its a beautiful day in Coventry today. I may even go out for a walk with the little ones.
Oh, this is the first time the "school moms" have seen me since I was very heavily pregnant in June. I was so glad to hear them make nice comments about the baby (Jack) and tell me "Ricki, you look so well and you lost your weight so quickly this time" Oh its gonna be a great day!!!  ;D

Yes Back to school here too----although I admit to being very nervous for her. She left this morning in fairly decent spirits however; was up half the night worrying about anything and everything. Of course the decision of the morning was should she wear socks or tights.....decided tights (which look so much nicer IMO) ---we arrive at the school...see all the children filing in ----and OF COURSE they almost all have socks on!

ahhh well---- no sense in pretending like she is one of the gang quite yet-- it will come with time.
keep your fingers crossed that it goes well for her!

Helena, was this her first day in a UK school? I remember my sons first day here. He was just 5 and going into year one. I was shaking for him as I still felt very much the foreigner. Jordan handled it well and when I picked him up from school he was surrounded by a ton of older kids. They all heard there was an American boy in school and just had to meet him. He was on cloud 9 and I was able to relax.
Same thing with clothes here. I wanted to put the boys in their burgundy polo shirts with their grey pants but my husband said it was part of the Summer kit so I put short sleeved white shirts with their ties on. Of course most the kids were in their burgundy shirts!
Hope you enjoy your day!

What that sound?

SILENCE!

Oh the joy of no MTV blaring, no squabbling over the channel changer, no moaning about being bored, or nothing to eat.......Bliss.

Yes first day in a UK school---entering year 10. The turmoil of a teenager who both wants to blend in with the crowd and be her own person. Not an easy task as the "new american"--but am sure she will find her path.

I love my Sammy,8, but now that she is in school again I feel like a new person. No one talking 24/7. I have my 2 1/2 month old son Chris at home and he is such a great sleeper and napper that most of my day is free. How wonderful for school time. WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL

I am thrilled to report that the first two days of school seemed to go very well for my DD. She even managed to tie her own tie on day two ;-). Hopefully things will keep going so smoothly. I have no complaints about my move here---everything has been wonderful (yes I realize it has only been 3 weeks :) ).

Back to school for the boys has gone smoothly as ever.

Speaking of ties.. We bought Jordan a proper tie this year instead of the elasticated ties the younger kids wear. Im very proud of him as he tied it himself after a few practice go's. He's just 9 and now ties a better tie then I could :)

Home with my 3 month old and my 2 year old. The baby, Jack sleeps a lot still and Coby is amused easily with coloring books, helping me with the laundry and Nick Jr. of course.
