US: Obama speech on debt ceiling deadlock

"Most Americans, regardless of political party, don't understand how we can ask a senior citizen to pay more for her Medicare before we ask a corporate jet owner or the oil companies to give up on tax breaks that other companies don't get."

President Obama Addresses the Nation on Dangers of Default
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

And Bill O'Reilly's comment about that very quote, was to talk about "rich v poor", how the President wants to redistribute wealth etc. Class warfare etc. I don't think he realises that cutting benefits IS class warfare, it's a war on the poor by the rich.

Being here in the US, I can't tell you how utterly sick this all makes me.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

This video infuriates me! WTH Republican party?!?!?! Get on board and let's come to a compromise to reduce this debt! If all or most of the millionaires/billionaires are willing to toe the line then what's the problem? We're all struggling here! The rich keep getting rich and the poor keep getting poorer.. I'm seriously disappointed in my government ??? :-\\\\
