Yeah, can't say I'm a fan of the packed-like-sardines-with-my-nose-next-to-someone's-sweaty-armpit forms of public transport either.  And I know you struggle with that overall situation.

You should move north!  :)  It's usually cooler up here.

I do like the north! It's a pity my industry is pretty much only in London.

The claustrophobia really kicks in when it's warmer on the trains. Not to mention I'm short so my nose is armpit height!  :-X

I was actually stuck on the train in 30C weather last month. And it was merely because the train in front of us was waiting for a driver! I ended up with heat exhaustion after that one.

I could go on about my horrible train journeys. Perhaps I should simply say that my rail line has been rated the worst in the UK and leave it at that.  :-\\\\
I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.' Kurt Vonnegut

Crazy weather today!  We'd planned to go rambling as the BBC Weather yesterday said it would be sunny & dry today.

Only it was pouring down rain on & off all morning.  So we didn't go.

Then it cleared off mid- to late afternoon, and now it's lovely & sunny (but cool) - bit too late for us.  :P

Alas, I think the 'Heat Wave' is well and truly over going by the Beeb's long range forecast (click Monthly Outlook tab), updated today:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/10209

So that may be 'it' for summer, folks.  :\\\'(

We can always hope for an Indian Summer, I guess, come September or October.

Wild, crazy weather again here today - super-duper windy, more sunny than cloudy, but lightly spitting rain.  I have left my laundry pegged out (bed linen) because I need it to get dry & this wind should do it - as long as the rain stops & I think it will.  As long as the laundry doesn't get ripped off the line by the wind, that is.  :P

'Heat wave' in the relative, British sense, i.e., 20C or higher...  ;) :P

Those 2 days you had at 20C - that was it!  ;D

You North Pole dwellers should be grateful for those 2 days, too!

Well, that's OK by me -- I won't have to worry about passing out at the Albert Hall. It's usually steaming in there.

It *may* be warmer down south though.  But definitely bring layers for up here!

I'm sitting at home right now with a steaming cup of tea and cold feet (even though I'm wearing socks)... a far cry from last week where I was sweltering in my room in shorts and bare feet :P!

Believe me we were!  My DH and I went to Tesco to buy a new bottle of Pimm's and they were sold out!

Haha!  A buddy and I went for a beer at a pub near work.  We sat outside [meaningful pause] under the heaters, which were going full blast.  On August 18th.
