They're now in Ealing, about 5 minutes from me. They've set the Nandos on fire. Psht! Where will I get lunch on a quiet Sunday now?!

Heeeey!

 >:( >:(

DH is still in London.  I'm in the US to visit family... haven't been able to get in contact with him yet.  I'm sure he's fine though.

I think while London is, you know, literally on fire, the expectation that we could stick to that subject is a reasonable one. I don't usually come into the news forum, but I'm following this story on every medium I can.

I want to know if that's Wing Yip in Croydon burning down. The roofline sure looks pagoda-like.

So Ealing Town Centre is properly on fire now.... There's black smoke where we are, a friend of ours who's a street nearer can see major flames.

Oh no!

DH is still there (didn't think it would be a problem, so he ventured down there).

I'm sure it will be fine, I haven't seen anything but just loads of smoke so could be anything or nothing. There's been some eyewitness stuff for Ealing on sky news which sounds grim and lots of sirens.

ARGH! Sky news reporter less than 2 streets away, talking to people who have had rioters break into their houses.

Officially scared.

Stay safe, CB.

As for my update upthread, lots of people on Twitter was saying that someone might have tried to set a fire on the Common/Rookery, but others said the smell of smoke was probably from Croydon.  Pretty quiet ATM.  Some car or house alarms going off, and smokes seems to have dissipated.

Everyone stay safe.

Yeah I was alright but that freaked me out a bit! We're ground floor flat as well and literally a couple of streets away. I'm not going to bed for awhile!

Update on DH:

He sent me a text - He's trying to get home to Ealing, and is on a bus in the area.

He estimates about 12 youths attempted to storm the bus, but the bus got away.

Stay safe everyone.

I'm quite scared.

This is terrifying.  I really wish I were back in the UK with DH.  :(

CB - YOU STAY SAFE!!!
