Update on DH:

He sent me a text - He's trying to get home to Ealing, and is on a bus in the area.

He estimates about 12 youths attempted to storm the bus, but the bus got away.

Stay safe everyone.

I'm quite scared.

This is terrifying.  I really wish I were back in the UK with DH.  :(

CB - YOU STAY SAFE!!!

axk!! That's terrifying. Hope he gets home! There's a big exclusion zone around Ealing at the moment. :(

Really scary time just now. Heard huge crowd so turned off all the lights, massive gang of rioters went up the street, smashing cars, carrying looted stuff, they were shouting about going up to Park Royal. Stayed as quiet as possible and they went past, but they were definitely armed and up for trouble, was quite scary. Lots of reports on the news of houses being broken into in Ealing. Scary!

Apparently West Ealing is getting hit really hard. Panasonic store being looted now as well as Sainsburys.

The Tescos about 20 feet from our house has been looted, which has really spooked me.

:(

DH finally got home.

His bus drove through west Ealing on the way, and he said practically everything is smashed to bits - a few stores with vans driven through the shop windows!

Everyone, you stay safe tonight!

Definitely sounds like West Ealing is the epicenter tonight. Glad to hear he's home and safe.

The more I hear of this, the more I am unable to believe that people are doing this because they are dissatisfied with their lives, the government, etc. :(

This is just terrifying to read about. Most of you know that I'm visiting family in the states, but I know the riots have hit my area. :( My friend who has my bunnies posts every few hours on her rescue page (she boards as well) saying that all the animals are safe, as her area has been hit as well. I'm so scared for all of my friends and UK family. I hope everyone is staying safe.  :-\\\\

Your post is a bit prophetic about history repeating.  Sort of, but not really.

We're not near a high street, but I hope this is going to be resolved soon.  Stupidly crazy. It sounds like there has to be a better system with working with families of those shot or even just injured in police activities (remember, these are people who have NOT had a trial, whether the media is right about them being "gangsters" or not), but the looters, of course, are just looking for an excuse.

Including the families of shot police officers too,l trust ?

I had no idea this was going on last night as we were watching a DVD. I was woken up by helicopters in the middle of the night, but from where I live, I couldn't smell smoke. I can't see any cars damaged on my street this morning, but I do live about 7 minutes away from Ealing Broadway.

This is so surreal and horrific.  :\\\'(

Ugh, Theresa May's response to this, this morning, falls so short.

I hope everyone is alright this morning!

We were watching this on the news last night, so scary. We've heard loads of sirens, but so far the riots still seem to be a couple of miles away, though who knows if that will last.

Stay safe, everyone.
