visa checklist help
« on: September 03, 2004, 02:58:27 PM »
Hi... looked for threads about these query's but can't find any... hope some one can help...
ok first...
my hubby( well he will be on sept 17th) is self employed (drives a taxi)so he doesn't get paystubs... and although he has a bank account he only ever puts enough in it to pay his personal loan... we pretty much live hand to mouth until i can get my visa and work... how do we prove that he makes what he makes? his dad is his business partner... can he write a letter saying how much jimmy makes or would it be better if he says he's the boss and Jimmy works for him... cause basically thats true... they both pay for the taxi but only his dad is named on the title and the taxi license and they haven't incorporated the business..
second...
is there a minimum income required like in the U.S. ( 125%over poverty level)???and third...
since he makes so little will a letter of additional support be needed from his dad... (we live with his family at present and they are MORE than willing to help us out til we get on our feet )or will we need him to co sponser me because of this???
and last...
since we live in the family home and will continue to do so until i get a job and we can afford our own place... will a different letter signed by his mom and dad be sufficient evidence of accomidation...
hope someone can give me a clue... thanks, Jo
It's the difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

Lipstick? Where woman? There is no lipstick!
She wasn't kissing your lips my darling

What's it gonna be Merv?
Interesting deal
She'll do it. If she has to kill everyone in this room. She'll do it. She's in love.
*sigh*
It's amazing how the path of love is so alike to the path of insanity

2gether 4ever Jo & Jimmy

I cannot answer all your questions but I know there is no set income you must have like the US. For the accomodation you need his dad's deed or mortgage statement plus a letter to say  you can live there.

no there is no set income but you will need to show he is working - perhaps a copy of his last tax return would be ok? and i agree with Squirrel - a letter from his parents should be sufficient regarding the accommodation - when my husband applied for his fiance visa all we had was a letter from my then flatmate!
