Howdy fellow Texans!

I live in the Mid-Cities area of DFW and work in North Dallas.
I must admit though that I am really fond of Austin.

My fiance is from Salisbury and we'll be married in March 2005 -- so I'll be moving shortly after that. :D

We're actually having our honeymoon down in Austin -- we're both big music junkies and are going to spend the whole week at SXSW Music Festival! :)

Good to hear all of the Texas talk, i just got really home sick after missing Austin City Limits for the first time in a while...are there any Texans that are actually over here though?!  I'd love to have a good 'ol Tejas bar-b-que.  See y'all soon,
Rory

I'm a Texan living in West Yorkshire, and would *love* to have a "gool ol' Texas bbq"  :)  Where are you living, rory?

Geez, wish I had known you were here earlier!! I had a good old Texas BBQ a couple of weeks ago for MelanieB, who I believe is leaving TODAY back to San Antonio/Austin area. We had beef fajitas with all the fixins, smoked chicken, ribs, hamburgers and hot dogs. And of course, all the lovely side dishes (tater salad, devilled eggs, etc).

Geez, I'm making myself hungry here! lol Guess we could do another, eh?

I'm in the tri-county area of Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey. Anywhere nearby???

Welcome, by the way! Last place I lived in Texas was Arlington/S. Dallas. Before that, El Paso, Corpus Christi, Big Spring (and born in Amarillo).......and partied a few times on Sixth Street! :)

We just had the Austin City Limits festival here this past weekend!  I didn't get to go because the tickets were so expensive and sold out quickley, but it looked like fun!  I'm still in Austin, Texas  [smiley=cowboy.gif]  Just drop me a line if any of y'all want a cold one before taking off to the UK!

Wow... all these Texans...

I didn't make it to ACL Festival this year either.  Didn't have time/money to go.  But we went last year and had a great time.  My fiance LOVES Austin - so our SXSW honeymoon is going to be awesome.

I took him out for chicken fried steak at Threadgills... he thought it was so good... but wasn't too keen on the cream gravy. ;)

Once I'm over yonder (UK, I mean) it would be awesome to do a good Texas BBQ and/or Tex-Mex party.

:o He didn't like cream gravy!?? My Brit family likes it but are still very fascinated with the fact that its made with milk, flour and bacon drippings! For them, that one is hard to comprehend! lol

It's fun to read from a group of Austin-ites! I am new in London and new to this forum and, yes, I moved here from Austin just 4 weeks ago.  Can someone send me a taco from Maria's please?

Maria's is on S Lamar. It's become an instution the last few years. Maria started out selling tacos out of a trailer - now she has a little shack that's really cool in that south austin kind of way.

When you return to Austin, you're in for a big shock with Taco Shack. They've gone corporate - now longer are they in that little shack on Med Pkwy. They just moved into an old fast food place (I think it was a fish place or maybe KFC) across Lamar from Central Mkt. They also have a couple of other locations around town.

Yummmmm.....breakfast tacos!

I'm having a breakfast burrito this morning!  (our cafeteria here at work makes them and they are awesome)

I think I'll definitely miss the mexican food when I move.  I'll have to bring a stockpile of Cholula.

I made breakfast burritos for my fiance and he loved them! :)

Have any of you been to ChaChos in San Antonio?  Probably the best "fast-food" mexican I've ever had. Yum.  (now I'm really hungry!)

I'm in Midland, Texas right now (where I grew up) and that's all we've been doing...eating Mexican food!!!  I up and quit my job a week ago, and came here from Austin to spend time with my family and hang out, and they don't have breakfast tacos like Austin, they've got breakfast burritos!!!!  Oh my gosh, I'm going to gain 10 pounds by the time I leave here I kid you NOT!

I'll have to try Maria's on S. Lamar.  I didn't realize that Taco Shack had one near Central Market...that kind of sucks.  I also like Portifinos tacos  :P  I'm getting very hungry right about now.

Aaaaahhhh - Maria's - what pleasant memories of Austin you bring back -- I also really used to dig this place called Las Manitas on Congress just north of the river. When I go back to the states in November, I'll have to bring back as much Cholula as I can carry!

I'm in a flat in Richmond and - gasp - we don't even have space for a bbq. How am I going to survive without a bbq?
