Although I enjoy college football more than the NFL... I am just plain excited for both.

But worried football season will make me extra homesick... :( Hoping to catch as many games as possible on SkyGo! And will probably be completely ignoring my facebook on game days... I can't stand to hear about everyone tailgating while I won't be there!!  :\\\'(

But there's always the NFL game in London in October!

I'm just going to have to get on the "Football"/Soccer bandwagon.

Guess not a lot of NFL fans on the site hehe!!

UKHusker if you don't mind me asking, what are you doing in the UK? Did you want to be here? I was recently a tiny bit homesick myself, but passed quickly.

You should look into NFL Game Pass. I just got my subscription, you can watch NFL Network, and all your teams games, or all teams. I used it last year as well! Love it! Watching NFL actually makes me feel like a piece of home is with me! You can still chat your friends and family back home about the game and all the stuff happening in NFL.

I got into english premier league few years ago, but since moving to the UK last year, my interest has only increased majorly! I never miss a match for my team in the EPL, just like I don't for NFL. Love both equally! Its great cause now every weekend (week) I got at least 2 "football" matches to watch! Something to look forward to!

Don't forget the US qualified for the rugby world cup and will be playing Ireland on Sept 11.

I'm stoked for the NFL, and also have a Game Pass subscription, so I'll be sitting up at ridiculous o'clock, wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey and trying to root quietly so as not to wake up my wife.   :)

You are all inspiring me to enjoy my last football season in the states...granted I DON'T have DIRECTV (my former employer) anymore. So no Sunday Ticket. I would probably be better off over there!!

haha nice one camoscato!! Game Pass rocks!!! Another great thing about it is there a few real late sunday night prime time US games and i work early monday morning. But thanks to Game Pass that dont matter! I can simply just watch the match anytime I please, over and over if I really wanted. So I wont have to stay up for the 1am games! (Would if i wasnt starting work next week though!) lol

The problem with UK football is the complete lack of tailgating. I've gone to tailgates even when I didn't have tickets because there is nothing better than eating a big Italian sausage with peppers and drinking a beer on a parking lot at ten in the morning.
Sometimes I amaze even myself.

Yep I came over here voluntarily. Most of my family lives here, but I grew up in the States. I'm loving it here, but football season is making me miss home a bit. I've looked into getting the Big Ten Ticket, which is only available to those outside the US and streams the college games live and on demand. I'm also thinking of buying an ESPN3 (formerly ESPN360) subscription for the non Big 10 games.

Truthfully, I enjoy the NFL, but I'm already investing a bit in those two subscriptions, I probably won't look into the NFL Game Pass.

Part of what I'll miss is watching the games with friends, at a sports bar and tailgating. It's not quite the same watching the games by yourself! :) Where is everyone on here watching the games? Have any of you found a local pub that shows American sports? (Wishful thinking?  ;D)

SO TRUE! You would think if there was any other culture that would adopt the concept of tailgating it would be the Brits. Well, take the cars away and change it to "standing in a car park drinking and eating" ... and call it footiegating :)

It's just different customs, here the custom is to go to a pub near the stadium for a few beers.

Yeah I've been to both UK football matches and NFL matches at home. There both great, and you are correct on tailgating being fun, especially if you have a few buddies with ya! But it is also fun going to the pubs before the match with a few buddies as well!

Tailgating is awesome though!! One thing English Football has that I love and NFL doesnt is the songs/chants! The atmosphere can be intense here! I love all the chants/songs for the team, players, and songs against your opponents. I remember once sitting next to the away section and the whole match was a battle of chants between the home and away section.. was fun! Wish NFL got into the song/chanting thing!!

Sounds like you like your college ball so good on you! You can always catch NFL games online free on streaming sport websites, or if you got Sky sports they play 2 sunday games and playoff games. I think channel 4 or 5 plays late night sunday game, and espn may play monday night football.

What area are you in? London or what? I think there are a few sports pubs downtown, central london that play american sports, including NFL. (6pm UK time starts) = 1pm eastern time. I haven't tried that out yet, mainly due to not having any NFL fan/friends here! So just been me in my lonesome watching. It is fun to go with your friends to watch the game for sure. If your in London area maybe we can meet up and check out one of those american sport pubs see what its all about..get ourselves a UKYankee NFL crew lol.

Unfortunately I'm not in London, currently in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. I was just curious if there was even such thing as a pub playing the games! I'm hoping I can get some of my family/extended family interested in the sport (fat chance!) so they'll watch with me. I'm totally willing to catch a train to London one day to watch a game with other Americans! Especially if we could get a group together. Do you mind me now asking what brought you to the UK? :) Just curious.

I love the chanting/songs of the UK football teams too! But I also LOVE my tailgates. One big difference I've noticed, is it is much less common for women to be involved in watching football here. In the States it's not unusual at all for me and my girls to go to a tailgate and have some beers and then go to a game. While in England, it feels like it's nearly frowned upon for a woman to order a beer (unless it's mixed with lime, lemonade or some other fruity mixer). I'm sure there are exceptions, but it's just my experiences from the past month. Women drink beer= drunk, piss head, floozy, tart.  I haven't yet been able to go to a football match, but am I right in saying it is much more of the men singing/chanting/supporting?
