BBC Your Paintings (for the art geeks out there)
« on: August 13, 2011, 05:31:21 PM »
Well, I've spent a good portion of my lazy day playing around on the Your Paintings Tagger, tagging paintings in public collections throughout the UK.

It's incredibly interesting if you're into art at all, and it also helps the Public Catalogue Foundation to collect information about the 200,000 paintings that are being documented.  Perhaps it's the geek in me, but I think it's a lot of fun!  :P

I've seen so many wonderful paintings today!  :)

Has anyone else signed up?

No, but I will now! Thank you for this!  :)

It's very much like the book cover tagging project over at LibraryThing which has occupied HOURS of my time over the past year or so!

Ooooo LibraryThing looks great!  I've been using Shelfari, but I may have to give this a try!

I love it. I have a barcode scanner, and I used Librarything to organize all of my books (had about 1000) for the move to the UK. It's a great resource. I'm "jnyrose" on there. :)

I keep getting Cornish seascapes, too.  That and stuff from the York Museums Trust.  I think there's only the paintings from certain collections that are actually available for tagging at the moment, so I guess some themes will be more abundant until they have them all up?  That's my guess anyway!

Ah, that explains it. I thought they were sneakily tracking my whereabouts!
