Packing it in and heading home
« on: August 19, 2011, 08:48:25 AM »
After much deliberation and many heart-to-hearts, DH & I have decided to move back to the States. We simply feel that we'll be able to do more for our girls and give them more opportunities there. We just filed our initial application for permission to apply for a green card this week and are now playing the waiting game with the Embassy.

So very much to do in the meantime--house and car to sell, new jobs to find--aaargh!

I will miss many things about living here--DH's family and my job, primarily--but I'm ready to make a new start.

Good luck.   I hope everything goes smoothly, or as smoothly as possible with kids.  ;)

Best of luck, lady! We might be heading out your way next summer... we'll have to keep in touch!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Best of luck to you...my husband & I did the same thing last year. We filed in June and we got the visa in February of this year and moved the end of March. Lots of adjustment going on but, like you, we felt it was better for our daughter to go back 'home'.

We moved back to Canada last year - it was part of a long-term plan but happened waaaay sooner than we thought it would.  It was a great decision and we're very happy, particularly now that we've had a year under our belts and are relatively settled.

I hope things go well for you with visas, move and settling in!
