Scrapbooking Supplies shipped from home to UK
« on: August 19, 2011, 12:01:52 PM »
Its been about 4 months since the big move and i've become aware of one thing.

I regret NOT bringing all my scrapbooking supplies!

I left a nice size collection of various tools, papers, embellishments, ect with my Mom prior to moving. What would be the best way to note this on the paperwork if it was shipped over to me?

There is no way to quantify the actual value of the items, as i've been scrapping for over 10 years. Would personal effects like this be exempt from import taxes? Does customs expect you to have a detailed invoice for these types of items, or can you use a generic "crafting supplies/personal effects" label? Are you allowed to import paper cutters, scissors and such or would it be smarter to omit them?

also, side note--> any recomended places to buy from in the UK for supplies? I was pointed to Hobbycraft, which I plan to checkout when we hit up our appointment in Croyden for the next visa.

I feel the same way about my yarn making.  My spinning wheel, fiber, DYES! (::wail!::) and alot of other stuff are all over in the states still...and i'm not sure some of it is able to come over. ::sigh::

As far as supplies, one of my clients is JGD crafts. And if you buy, I'll be the one shipping it out to you  ;) ;D

Thanks everyone for the nice links. i'll be looking into them asap.

at first, i decided to not bring anything because of the space issue. but if my husband is allowed to keep an insane amount of video games and books, i'm allowed my crafty! :)
