While in London, I should...?
« on: August 19, 2011, 06:21:54 PM »
Hello everyone! TGIF!

I have a question that is not completely pertinent; but this seems the right place to ask. I am going to England for my holiday (start of November for 2 weeks). I will be in London for 5 or 6 days; then off to visit family and friends in Norwich, Leicester, Manchester, Brum and Ireland (looks like 2 days each)... I am not sure how it can be done either; but a great offense is taken when people are not visited.

I've booked the Crown Moran Cricklewood Hotel. No one has been able to give me solid advice on lodgings; so this seemed right and in an area I'd like to be in. On previous trips, I've done touristy stuff and a lot of walking around. This time, my plan is to visit some cemeteries where family is buried (genealogy obsession); but I'd also like to become more acquainted with different neighborhoods and local things since the plan is to move at the end of March next year.

Looking for any advice or thoughts from this wonderful group! As I've discussed with a few, I am hoping to move to possible Golders Green, Finchley, Hendon or Maida Vale (latter may be too pricey). I am also looking to find a place that accepts dogs which I understand can be daunting; but not impossible. Is there a list of dog parks in London?  Are there kennels that run a doggy daycare (Hannah goes here a few times a week and in a nutshell gets to play with other dogs)? If not, then a dog park or park where dogs are okay (which I am thinking would be most) would need to be nearby.

Super excited about coming over and then moving next year. Very grateful to this site because I've received very helpful information and advice.

I forgot to add that I'll be on this trip by myself.

Thanks everyone!
Jilly

We are all each a little bit crazy, a little bit different and a little bit the same.

Golders Green would be a good area as you'd be right by Hampstead Heath. Lots of people take their dogs there to run about. I'm sure there are parks near the other areas you're looking, but I know if I had a dog and were looking around north London, I'd want to be near Hampstead Heath!
I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.' Kurt Vonnegut
