Welcome to UK-Y!  I am in Athens, Georgia right now and moving to Northampton sometime next year.  I saw you posting about the PETS process - I just got my dog microchipped a month ago and we will be getting his vaccine soon (it's due in Sept anyway).  My vet really really wants to do the titer still "just in case" - bit of a battle going on there between us.

The blood test after the rabies vaccine to make sure there are enough antibodies in the blood.  It is required under the current regulations but going away in 2012.

You know I didn't know that til I came to this board? I didn't even know about the changes in the PETS policy! What's the waiting period between vaccination and moving now? 3 months?

I think next year it will be just 21 days after the rabies vaccine.  This year it is a 6 month wait from the day the blood is drawn for a successful titer.

Basically as long as you have the pet microchipped first, then you get a rabies shot - you just have to wait 21 days before moving.  You can get the rabies shot done a lot earlier than that of course and just wait.  Just make sure you don't let the vaccine lapse - so every year or 3 years.  Once you know your moving date you will take your paperwork to the state USDA vet, no earlier than 4 months before you leave, to have them sign off that everything is correct and you can travel.  Some airlines require a health certificate in addition.

The other things to make sure of are that your crate is big enough - the airlines are quite picky about this, checking if you are traveling during a heat embargo time, and closer to 2012 - if a tick or tapeworm treatment will be needed.

See thats our problem, we can't file our marriage visa until July 2012 and we are shooting to have me move oct 2012. So I'll have to get him vaccinated and the sheet signed before the date we put down on our visa to move, which I think as of right now is like oct 4 or something.

Yeah, delta requires a health certificate for him.
