If you mean Rybena then no my DH and I do not drink it, but our friends who have children have it in their homes.  We do drink some Black Current Juices and also eat the Jam on toast......

I think that's one brand -- Rybena. I think the jam would be nice. But the stuff my children had to drink (there wasn't anything else available) was another brand, which I can't recall. It's in a purple bottle (with the sports cap).

I love blackcurrant juice (and all the blackcurrant-flavoured things too) :)... but then I did grow up on it here in the UK (we were never allowed Ribena at home when we were little though because it was too expensive :( ).

I think blackcurrant is the UK equivalent of grape flavour in the US... for example, we have blackcurrant Skittles and Starbursts here instead of the grape ones. However, I feel the same way about US grape flavour as some of you guys obviously feel about UK blackcurrant flavour... I can't stand it :P!

Blackcurrent Skittles and Starburst?! OMG, I love it. Yes, I think you're right -- must be our grape equivalent. I'm sure if I grew up with blackcurrent I'd feel the same and would like it just fine. :)

I hate to admit it, but I LOVE black currant juice (along with ksand24, I like anything black currant flavored...give me black currant wine gums any day)!  When I go over, I drink the light Ribena because I can do without the added sugar and I still get my fix.

Lucky you! Maybe I'll grow to like it. I did read it's full of antioxidants (not sure if that's true of all the BC flavoured beverages though).
 :)

I think it's alright in a Snakebite, but you wouldn't be feeding that to your children... (Half cider, half lager, dash of blackcurrant)
Ha-ha! Wow, that sounds potent! Not sure if I could handle that either!  :o

Nasty.    :D

Blackcurrant isn't "juice" anyway.  It is a juice cocktail sort of thing. Can you even get 100% juice blackcurrant drink?

Interesting, I didn't realise that it's not even 100% Juice.

Thanks for that!  :)

I think it smells like cat pee...but it does taste good.  I still miss really good Concord grape juice, though (not the artificial grape flavor you get in candy, kool aid, etc).
:D That is hilarious.

We had Ribena if we were ill, my sister suffered from asthma and was ill a lot and I used to complain that she could have Ribena and I couldn't! Used to love it made with milk as well!
Now I usually buy the store brand summer fruits squash or apple and blackcurrant.

That is just too funny!

"Used to love it made with milk as well!"

I just got sick. LOL  ;)

But as others have said, it's definitely about what one grows up with.

It's like cranberry juice which generally has water and sugar (or some sort of sweetener) added to it.

Love the stuff. And it is quite nice with vodka, too ;)

Now that sounds appealing. I'll have to try that.

Ah, Ok.... Here in the U.S. I tend to buy juice "boxes" that are advertised as 100% juice. I just took a peek and it is juice from concentrate with added water. Thanks for that!

Sounds like your children had Fruit Shoots.  I don't care for them as most varieties contain artificial sweetener, which I'm not keen on my girls having.  They are quite popular with children.

Yeah, they don't have a lot of juice boxes that are 100% juice that is mixed.  You can get 100% apple/orange/pineapple, but I can't find 100% juice in a cranberry blend anywhere in my area.

You can get OceanSpray but that is juice and sugar.

Yes! That's what they are! Thanks for that, I couldn't recall the name.

I wonder, would a place like Waitrose have "healthier/organic" kid-friendly juice boxes/drinks, would you know?

Thanks!

I love Ribena; but I also grew up with it... mum made sure to know where the tiny British shops were in NY; and I knew of quite a few in Santa Monica. It's tart and you either like it or not. Now Cadbury Flakes are another story!
We are all each a little bit crazy, a little bit different and a little bit the same.
