Fiat 500

I think this is the coolest car.

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Me too. I saw a few in British Columbia last month. They have very few in my neck of the woods and none in my city that I can see. I think they are made in Mexico for the US market.

Hi

It's 'cool' for what it is, and an excellent modernisation of an absolute classic car from Fiat! the 'hot' Abarth version is even better!

I personally wouldn't have one though, I prefer cars with much more power and performance and space :)

Cheers, DtM ! West London UK!

In your view how does it compare with the Smart car?

Hi,

The Fiat 500 was designed to be a supermini and as such feels like a proper car. The Smart car when initially launched did have a distinctly 'toy' feel about it inside. We had 2 of them (2005 and a 2006 model passion variants) as company runabouts and rolling advertising billboards and certainly fun etc but didn't have a 'car' feel at all. Smart cars nowadays are probably built better, but in no way match the Supermini choices out there.

What superminis are out there? Fiat for one and then the Korean and Japanese?

Hi

Each major brand in the UK has a supermini class car. If you look at the autotrader.co.uk, you can see what each manufacturer offers ;)

I just ordered a Fiat 500 and will take possession the middle od September.  I personally felt when I test drove it that I had a lot of room.  I am close to six feet and by no means skinny.  The only thing I am concerned about is that my old car is a 2.2 and I am going down to a 1.2.  I do thing I will get use to the change or lack of power but the trace off is the fuel economy.

I personally am looking forward to it as I love the look of the car.

When I read your post I was thinking you may not notice any change if the Fiat has less weight to drag around than your previous car.
Then there is the thing at the filling station. Less waste at the filling station.

You will be very happy with your 'chicke' motorcar.
