Forum and database maintenance Sun 28 August 2011

I'll be performaing some work on the website tomorrow and will need to put the forum into maintenance mode to do that. Hopefully you'll all be out enjoying sunshine and won't notice the downtime. 

The website has had a new calendar of events with holidays on the main portal, so the forum calendar will be disabled as it hogs resources and isn't being used much. This also means that birthdays will no longer appear, but in this Facebook age, most people are getting tons of birthday wishes there. The Birthdays board will also therefore be removed.

I'll be creating a new Pets board for general Pet discussion due to popular request, and tracking down some of the recent pet topics that need moving.

I will also try to re-create the forum search database index as the search doesn't working as well as it should. This is due to the number of posts on the forum, and could take several hours to build.

Haha, or us East Coasters who are riding out the hurricane just won't have power and therefore no internet!

I've accomplished most of what I intended without closing the forum today, but I've not tried rebuilding the search index, I'll have to catch that task next time, in a couple of weeks. There was too many things I had to do. (Filling a massive skip on the drive was one.)

I'll remove the Birthdays board tomorrow to be sure that those last wishes get seen. Thank you Shugga for taking the time to post the birthday wishes all this time, it was very kind of you.
