Hi! I'm from Phoenix as well. I met my Scottish boyfriend at ASU 8 years ago and we did the long distance thing for a really long time so I know how it is! I've been in Glasgow for about three years and we're looking to move to London in the new year.
I'm definitely not an expert, but I have experience applying for a lot of visas (student, post study work and now FLR) so I'm happy to offer advice or at least share my experiences!

Congrats on your engagement!  :)

Hi phx0584! How do you like living in the UK? Did it take awhile to adjust? I think the weather is going to be my challenge. How was it going from constant sun to rainy days? My DF loves the heat and sun of the desert, and we spent every afternoon in the pool when he visited last. I think I am ready to be away from the 100+ temps, but I will miss the sun. Did you find it easy to make friends over there? Congrats on making it through the visa process! It seems so daunting!

Well I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the sunshine. I wasn't born in Arizona, but I pretty much grew up there so it was very difficult at first. I think the hardest part is trying to figure out what to wear! Boots, jackets, scarves, umbrellas.. give me a tank top, flip flops and shorts instead! :) It just rains so much here, but if you're going to be in England you might actually have decent weather!
I did a post grad course here a couple years ago so I still have friends from that and I've gotten really close to all of the girlfriends of my BF's friends. Everyone is so friendly, as soon as you start working you'll meet people.
