I'm all for the sharing of tacos.  ;D
Ditto! I'm craving some Mexican now.

Also, I've never eaten at Taco Bell so I'm neither here nor there, but to the OP: there a new Chipotle-esque restaurant that opened up in Glasgow called Pinto.  It's not the best "Mexican" I've ever had, but it's a heck of a lot better than other places I've tried in Scotland!
We have a similar option called Tortilla scattered around London. We have a Chipotle as well, but Tortilla is way more convenient for where I live. It's pretty great, too!

It's also better when you choose an appropriate time and place to start a discussion, rather than derail someone's thread.  Pettifog would be a great place for that.  :)

I so totally agree. At least one of the posters here almost always has something negative to reply no matter what the topic and that coupled with a holier than thou attitude it never fails to bum me out.

TWO Chipotles now.  You'd think I owned stock or was some crazed devotee the way I've gone on about this, but I've been in a homesick funk lately and a burrito seems to help.

I just added an Old El Paso kit and the rest of the taco ingredients to the grocery list now that tacos are on my mind and we don't have any Mexican places in town.

There's a range of ingredients, you've probably noticed in the supermarket, called Mexican Discovery. I prefer them to Old el Paso (which I can also get here).

The nice thing about Mexican Discovery is that they sell half cans of refried beans (and they're a little spicy, too). A whole can is always a chore to get through (and DH wouldn't touch Mexican).

I seldom made Mexican food in the States because it was so plentiful (with variable quality, of course), but I've added burritos into my lunch repertoire. Soft flour tortillas freeze well and thaw in seconds. And, this time of year, homemade salsa with stuff from the garden is the best.

True. Pettifrog would be a preferable place to discuss this.

My initial response was mainly my two cents, I didn't expect it to be misinterpreted into saying 'don't eat meat' and believing that all meat comes from happy farms.

Is it not allowed for someone to disagree? Some people may see Taco Bell as something postive, but others don't. I don't see anything wrong with believing it's important to know (and be concerned with) where our food comes from.

Stepping into a light-hearted taco discussion with a serious and heavy message is just jarring, is all. It's like that person who's always asking if you've accepted Jesus as your personal savior. You know she means well and cares deeply about what she's saying, but you'll make any excuse not to sit next to her at lunch.

Eep. You have a point (though religion is a completely different thing..).

I haven't really paid attention past Old El Paso. I will have a peek Friday while I am at Morrisons. I was just giddy to see OEP available and have stayed with them. Back home I'd buy the Taco Bell kits if we were making them at home but was just happy to see I could still have tacos. I'd like to branch out and try other brands to see what is out there.

I'll check out Taco Bell at least once to see what it's like here. I do like the OLP smoky bbq sauce mix, salsa in this country sucks. Soon I can finally make my own as I'll a fridge that I only have to share with 1 other person.

Costco has Pace, which I found super exciting! Pioneer woman also has a great salsa recipe (search for restaurant style salsa) that is really easy and can be easily adapted for a small batch. :)

I love those spicy refried beans, and the small can is just the right size for us for 1 meal.

Might have to get DW to make fish tacos again having read this thread.....I'll just make sure she uses sustainable fish!  ;D

Yay!  Great news to me, and especially to my DH who loves Fire Sauce and has all my family and friends in the US collecting it for him.

Speaking of Old El Paso and Discovery though, does anyone else think that the taco and chili seasoning tastes wrong?  I stock up when I go home but always run out before the next trip.  I mean, even Walmart Great value brand, or whatever they have at Aldi in the states, tastes better than the Old El Paso here.  They must put something different in it.  If anyone has a recipe for making your own mix I'd be happy for it!
