FINALLY GOT sa3 form, seeing headmaster today....urgh

Just a small question, any idea what sort of figures i'm looking at in terms of school uniforms for a 9 year old? What sort of school supplies I need to get (non uniform)
I know what I had to get by way of this back in the states, and it cost a boat load of money, but here, I'm totally clueless...

You can get relatively inexpensive uniform components at Woolworths or Primark or even Wilkinsons.  More upscale (read "expensive") - Marks, Debenhams, Adams/some larger Sainsburys, Allders.  Some schools allow "plain" jumpers/sweatshirts - other schools you need to buy from them with their badge on them.

As for school supplies, I was in shock because I didn't have a huge list like I was used to in the States!  This year (Year 6) my youngest says he needs a zippered pencil case, but that's the only requirement so far this year.

Asda and Primark are the cheapest for school uniform. 

From my experience here's a rough estimate

pack of two polo/button up shirts £5-10

trousers  £10-15

jumper-£7-15

PE kit-£5-10

pack of grey/black socks £2-5

Black school shoes £20-30

 

Depending on your laundry facilities you can get away with 2-4 shirts, 1-2 pair of trousers and a couple of jumpers.   Don't go hogwild and buy a uniform for everyday of the week.   

The other stuff I think I spent about £10 per child on zipper pencil case, pencils, rubber, sharpener and coloured pencils. 

My youngest has 2 school jumpers, but enough white shirts for 6 days (in case the laundry just doesn't get done!).  He started out with 2 pairs of trousers, which is okay during the winter when they dry really quickly on the radiators, but as it got warmer I bought him another pair so that I wasn't doing trousers every day! 

I mean, he IS a boy after all!

Thank goodness for Teflon trousers!!
