Just got back from my first trip to England..

Hello everyone! I've been having UKY withdrawls hehe. Got back from my first trip on Sept 7th and boy is this jet lag killer! haha I've been having a hard time adjusting back to California time and not having my boyfriend next to me I really enjoyed my trip! We did something everyday I was there and I'm blown away by Englands beauty, charm and all around awesomeness. We went everywhere from ziplining in Sherwood Forest to visiting William Shakespeare's home in Stratford-Upon-Avon to my favorite places; Chatsworth House and Bath. Of course I went to the Jane Austen Centre being a huge fan and I even got to stand in front of Jane's old house (which is now a dentist office) hehe. Chatsworth House took my breath away! I couldn't get enough of the gardens and views! London was fun, we spent 2 days there and both of them sunny and lovely! Oxford Street is was my haven! I bought a ton of stuff from Hamley's for my daughter and she loves all of it. I feel like England could truly be an amazing home for us and I'm so excited to visit again for New Years! I just want to thank everyone on UKY for their helpful suggestions on touristy and non touristy things to do because we did them all and enjoyed every minute of it <3 Sorry just had to gush a little

Glad you got away from the city. London is amazing, but the biggest surprise to me was the countryside. It's so pristine and unspoiled. Not a billboard anywhere!

America has some gorgeous places, of course, but you have to get off the interstate to see them. The highway is like a ribbon of Stuckey's and Exxons cutting across the landscape.

Oxford Street is was my haven! I bought a ton of stuff from Hamley's for my daughter and she loves all of it.

I worked there for a couple months after I moved here while looking for a teaching job. I worked on the girly floor. Isn't it great? I still love it there!

Stoatula- Yes I 100% agree we had an amazing time in the country! Derbyshire by far blew me away! I loved the green, breezy beautiful landscapes! London was lovely in it's own way

Princesslemons- It was fantastic!! I loved the Paddington section on the first floor. I bought Maddy a Paddington Bear book there along with a dress up butterfly costume, dust pan and broom set and a couple of books on London. Happy to report I explored the whole store and that Maddy is enjoying all of her gifts! The Topshop on Oxford Street has my heart! haha

Ive never been to Chatsworth House but seen it on telly and it looks gorgeous. My partner and I should get out there to see it as its on our doorstep, but just lazy...

Its amazing here. We live in Sheffield and in less than ten miles outside of city centre youre in the Peak District.

the Peak District and many places in Derbyshire are so beautiful.  I'm constantly amazed with the natural beauty and all the wild fruits growing absolutely everywhere (and yes, sometimes I do walk along just picking and eating).

As far as jet lag...California is tough being such a huge change in time zones.  Best advice I can give is to adjust your schedule the day before as much as possible.  as in, miss sleep where possible to realign.  Works better coming this way, but it should also help going back.

Thank you! My bf works in Mansfield at Kings Mill Hospital That's a cool hospital if I do say so myself! I agree the Peak District is absolutely gorgeous!!! Sherwood Forest was amazing, we ziplined at Go Ape and visited Robin Hood's neck of the woods. I'm truly excited to move to that area next summer. Jet lag is a b*tch! I'm doing better not, but still find myself waking up an hour or 2 before my alarm goes off.. Eh, guess it will just take me a little more time I guess

Chatsworth is EVERYTHING you expect and more! I love the Peak District! Bakewell was quite cute too! My bf took me to get a REAL Bakewell pudding there. Oh and Eccles cake and cornish pasty too! It was all so yummy!

I agree with you VERY fairytale-like! I liked the busyness of Oxford Street, it showed how real of a city London is and the shopping is fabulous! I fell in love with a necklace at Topshop that I'm now kicking myself for not buying because it costs WAY too much here in the states (not including tax and shipping) and in London it was the equivalent of 56$.. May get my bf to go to the Topshop in Nottingham and help me rectify this dilemma LOL
