National Insurance Contributions
« on: September 18, 2011, 07:38:13 PM »
Hi there,

I couldn't find any posts regarding whether or not I have to put my employer's National Insurance or my own National Insurance Contributions anywhere on my 1040 or on my Massachusetts tax forms.

I can't believe how much time I've spent trying to learn how to file my taxes. This is unbelievable.

Any help is so much appreciated, thanks!

NIC is not a creditable foreign tax (according to the IRS at least) so is not mentioned at all...

Thank you for that response.

I guess that means I don't put what I paid in as an expense and I don't put what my employer contributed as income either? (I realize it would seem silly to count it as income, but I thought maybe because I benefit from the N.I. it could be seen as income at a stretch.)

Sorry I still don't get it  :(

No, you do not put anything about NI in US tax forms.
