Sharing some pictures .... Lisa and I were away on the South Coast last weekend, and caught these two:
The boat (The "Waverley") is the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world, and is spending three weeks on the South Coast this month, saiing from Southampton to Weymouth, Portsmouth, and the Isle of Wight. I took this picture as we were about to board her for Swanage. She's in the Thames Estuary early in October and briefly in the Bristol Channel to finish her season.
The train is at Swanage station - a "preserved" line (and one of the better ones) where you can travel the few miles to Corfe Castle in the old fashioned way.
Two nostalic trips for me - I remember sailing on the Waverley on the Cylde before she was preserved, and catching the train to Swanage when it was still run by British Rail. Any other "Old transport" fans around??
