Not a new student but we usually move annually and yeah! It sucks especially around the London area geeeez! Didn't get to transfer down there because of stupid housing. ::)

DB got a job in London, so we've had to find a place. It is stressful, to say the least!  We finally found place in a houseshare.  Have you tried gumtree or sparerooms, treacle?

It seems to me that in order to get a place, you have to be in London when it's advertised, else it will go before you can get there to see it.  Thankfully, we were the first to see the last three properties we viewed and snatched the last one up immediately.

Yes I've tried those sites and some more besides (I am in London)! I've been looking for two months. Too many students and interns in London at this time plus rents have increased.

I hate to go to an estate agent but they only care about money in hand so they're not fussy about a tenant's musical tastes, smoking habits, skin colour...  ???
