Dec. 26 and beyond short holiday break ideas
« on: October 16, 2011, 10:13:06 PM »
There are so many post-Xmas holiday adverts but is there anyone here who can give a personal recommendation on any particular tour/tour company for post-Xmas and/or New Year's holiday ideas, either local (England) or abroad, say 4-5 days/nights?

I definitely don't recommend Ireland for this time period. Everything will be closed and public transportation will be very limited. And if it snows...oy! Any other time of the year, it's grand!  :)

Ha! I second that Ireland non-recommendation. I was there for NYE two years ago when it snowed and all of Dublin stopped. All flights were grounded and no public transportation... plenty of pubs open for hot toddies though!

I went to Istanbul after Christmas a few years ago. FANTASTIC time! Try somewhere where Christmas isn't a big deal, Morocco is fun too. Just be aware that if you travel back on a bank holiday here public transportation runs like a Sunday service (if lucky) and taxis charge more. I learned that one the hard way.

Easyjet runs flights to Jordon now and since it's such a tiny country, you can pack a lot into a few days. Petra is AMAZING!  :D
