I think it is OTT but keeping an eye is easier said than done and there are puncture issues with some of the pieces as well.

Seriously? Good Grief, it was tough enough getting into that interior plastic egg in the first place when you had little hands. There was no way you could bite through the whole thing.

Whatever happened to parental responsibility? *sigh*

I don't think anyone is suggesting they bite through the egg, rather that the little pieces you use to build the toys are little and some are quite sharp.

They just deem the toys inside to be unsuitable for under threes.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.

Well I'm a mother and I can tell you this much I wouldn't give my child (who's 6 1/2) a toy like that if she were under 3 and couldn't understand that it's dangerous. So I disagree with you.. It is up to the parents to give or not give a toy/candy/treat what have you to a child under the appropriate age.

I'm just saying that is how the gov't is looking at it, not how I do.

As far as I'm aware everything is okay except for Kinder Eggs, which are illegal in the US...

Ooops.   :-X  I had no idea!

I shipped a ton of chocolate to my family and friends last year for Christmas.  I wrote chocolate candy (or chocolate sweets, or something like that) and it got through alright.

You may want to be more clear on that in the future since your post sounded like it was based on your own opinion and not that of the government's. It may cause others to take what you're saying the wrong way. :)
