Secret Santa 2011 !!

I know it seems a bit early, but it's that time again! Really, it is!

For those of you who are new, here's how it works:

1.  If you want to join in, send me a PM with 'Secret Santa' in the subject line.
      - Give your full name and postal address
      - Let me know if you have any particular likes and dislikes as a guide I can pass on to the person who'll be buying your gift.
      - If you're willing to post a gift outside your country of residence, let me know that too.

2.  It doesn't matter how new you are to UKY or where you live - Secret Santa is open to everyone.

3.  You have until 5pm on Friday 18 November to sign up. I'll bump this thread from time to time so people don't forget.

4.  On Monday 21 November, I'll draw names and PM you with the name and contact information of the person you'll be buying for, along with his/her likes and dislikes.

5.  The guide price for gifts is £10 or $15. This is the same guide price we've used for the past few years. No inflation here at UKY!

6.  Please make sure you post your gift in plenty of time so that your recipient receives it on or before Monday 19 December.

7.  Tuesday 20 December will be our mass gift-opening day! This is when you can publicly thank the person who's sent you a gift. If you don't have strong will-power and feel you absolutely must open your gift earlier than the 21st go ahead - but please don't post your thanks until then.

If you're still stumped for gift ideas, a quick browse around the boards and some 'virtual stalking' should give you some hints as to your person's likes and dislikes.

Remember, it's more fun if it's a surprise, so please don't reveal whose name you've drawn or who has given you a gift until 20 December when EVERYONE has opened his/her gift!

In the past, we've had occasional problems with people agreeing to participate, but then not posting their gifts due to time or financial constraints - so please don't sign up if you're not completely sure you'll be able to follow through. It's not much fun when someone is expecting a gift and doesn't get one!

Wasn't there a postal strike mixed in there, too? I remember it being so crazy. Stuff I sent Dec 1 didn't arrive till Jan last year!

Well you can be sure that Santa is - in fact, I've been thinking about it all year!  I am already making my list and checking it twice, making sure the reindeers are getting getting their endurance and strength training exercises in to prepare for the big night, got the elves busy at work making toys, and of course, I've got Hermey working on everyone's teeth (reindeers, elves, everyone!)...Santa's work is simply never done!

Since chary (clearly nice!) has been so kind to start up the annual Secret Santa again, I thought it only right that I stop by & say hello.

Remember, I'm a very good Santa - no Bad Santas here on UKY, not that'll be participating in the Secret Santa anyway.  In fact, you might be surprised to learn that Santa is subject to the same forum T&C as every other member!

Let's make this Secret Santa 2011 the best ever!!  Do your homework, do your research, see what your giftee's wish list might be.  After you have done all that, if as a participant in the Secret Santa 2011 gift exchange, you think you might have need of Santa's most top secret information, then please send one of your friendly moderators a PM.  Thanks for understanding - we want to protect our community and not have Santa's name tarnished in any way!

Now get out there & have a Happy Halloween, Guy Fawkes Day & Thanksgiving first - while I finish all my Christmas preparations behind the scenes...
