Dark Materials and/ or The Magic Pudding

Someone was just telling me about these books...

Thoughts?
Recommendations?

Are they like Narnia kind of stories?

HIs Dark Materials - get it, read it. I'll be suprised if you don't like and can't put it down. I read it over Christmas last year and seriously could not put the books down. As soon as I had finished one it was on to the next. The trilogy is incredibly vast - morals, theology, corruption, plots twists within plot twists, cosmology, physics, parallel worlds and one girl's destiny. I read it after finsishing all the Harry Potter books, but found these three to be in a totally different league. I don't want to give anything away but I highly suggest reading these.

And the play of His Dark Materials is supposed to be excellent.

I have Dark Materials, and will be reading the trilogy soon!  Never heard of the Magic Pudding.

Has anyone seen this? Where is it? I did read that someone was going to produce a stage version but that was about it. I'd be so interested to find out how they handled things. I'm sure it's in London -- hmmmm I know I need to get there for some reason now.....

I kind of envision this myself as more of a film - Peter Jackson/LOTR style for cinematography and just the beauty of it.

And I'm going to go get the book(s) now!

I want to read *his dark materials*  it's supposed to be a kids book, but it's a little too dark to be a kids book, sounds interesting from all I've heard about it.

Welp, I stopped at Waterstone's on the way home and bought the first book... and the woman there said the shows are near sold out at The National...

so I just forked out a load to go... in March.
