Eurostar tickets don't have my name on them
« on: November 17, 2011, 07:25:27 PM »
My boyfriend and I are living in France at the moment and he bought us round trip tickets on the Eurostar to go to the UK to see his family for Christmas. He ordered the tickets online and they just came in the mail today. The problem is that one set of tickets has his first and last name on them and the other set has his last name and the word "two" on it. This is a pretty standard practice on French trains, but I'm worried it will cause a problem with UKBA because I'm pretty sure the name on your ticket has to match the name in your passport, and I don't think we can go through the line together since we aren't married. At the same time, maybe this is standard practice now?

Has anyone else had this problem? I obviously have plenty of time to deal with this before Christmas if I need to get the name changed, but I'm not going to bother if it's not a problem.

I don't think UKBA has a need to see your ticket, unless I'm missing something...

They make a big deal about the name on the ticket matching the name on the passport on the Eurostar website...

But that's from the Eurostar side; I don't think that has anything to do with UKBA.

and I don't think we can go through the line together since we aren't married.
We just got back from Paris last week :) While I can't speak to the issue of your name not being on the ticket, as mine was, I can tell you that the immigration lines are right next to each other, two halves of a booth. So, you won't have to be separated by too far. My husband is telling me right now that they didn't separate the lines into UK/EU and non-UK/EU passports, but I'm pretty sure they do.

Safe travels, hope you enjoy your holiday :)
(Also I'm soooo envious that you live in France!)
