Another yank to cross the pond
« on: September 14, 2004, 01:48:35 AM »
Hello,

I came across your site while doing a search on google for "american style food in the UK" and so far have found it quite useful and so I decided to join the forums as well and so here I am.

My story (if you really are interested) began about 3 years ago when I met my fiance in a chatroom where we hated each other from the start so I know it was going to be a lasting relationship from the very start.

Anyway to make a short story long about 4 months ago I decided it was finally time to meet in person even though we have seen and spoke to each other on an almost daily basis I wanted more so I got on a plane and crossed the pond and after spending a few hours in customs (was a PITA let me tell you) we finally got to meet and spent the next 2 months living together where at the end of it I came home only to feel that I left something precious behind (so after looking in my pocket and finding my wallet was still there) I came to the conclusion that it had to be her so as soon as I got home I called her and asked her to marry me and she said "i'm sorry you must have the wrong number" so after apologizing to my great aunt edna for waking her up at 4am I hung up the phone and dialed the correct number this time and poped the question again this time getting a "yes you stupid moron" as the reply which I am going to take as "yes I been waiting for you all my life you superstud you" so anyway we are planned to wed in June of next year and at which time I will be moving back to the UK with her and thats why I was looking for american style food in the uk and hence why I am here posting this to you all now .... ne way wish me luck.

Mike

Welcome!  Very funny intro btw.  Glad to hear things are working out for you and your fiance.  I'll be joining my fabulous Scottish fiance in February if all the visa papers, etc. get through without a hitch.  This website is a huge help for all that visa stuff and other immigration issues.:D

Hey Mike!  Welcome to UKY.  I  had to reply because I too met my love online and our first conversation was us arguing so I understand what you mean about hating each other.  And we too are getting married next June.  So tell us, where exactly will you be moving??

Well, Mike, allow me to echo everyone else's font here!  Great intro (great intro, great intro, great intro).  Too bad there's no such thing as a "comic visa", huh?

Welcome to UKY.....and to the adventure!   ;D

Welcome Mike...  and may I be redundant???  great intro!!!  met my fiance online as well we didn't argue but he was having a battle of wits with somebody sadly unarmed and made me lmao... I knew from that moment we'd be great friends and never thought it would end the way it has...                                                   ( end???naw... its just the beginning )
Good luck with everything... hope to see more witty posts to follow up the initial one...   Jo

Thanks for the welcomes and replies and to who ever asked (too lazy to scroll at the moment) I will be living in petersfield at first and then might migrate over to a nudist colony or portsmouth (or some other fishy spot)

LOL - I enjoyed reading your intro!  Great luck on the future and your move to the UK.

I've gotten to be great friends with a fellow I've met on-line.  Wonder if he and I could have a future?!  We've only had one fight so far.  ;D
