Health care after visa app submitted
« on: December 12, 2011, 08:20:20 PM »
I've been coughing for 3-4 weeks now and am afraid it'll worsen (eg, pneumonia). My T4 visa application is with the Home Office, however. What sort of treatment can I get with my status?

You can receive any care you need, but if you are on a visa that doesn't allow NHS access, then you'll need to pay out-of-pocket.  It is really important that you insist on paying, even if the surgery doesn't want to charge you, because if you have unpaid NHS debts it can prevent you from getting future visas.

You are not currently eligible for free treatment with the NHS.
