Have just spoken to Section 8 housing, it's closed all over Indiana, they're not accepting applications at this time  :\\\'(

Yes, unfortunately, they said that there's currently so many homeless people in the state of Indiana that they can't keep up with them. All of the available housing in Lake County alone are occuppied curently  let alone in the entire state. Sad thing for everybody that's homeless in Indiana  :\\\'(

If she's in a shelter, will she allow your son to go and collect his daughter and then apply for the spouse visa once in receipt of the child tax credits?

I'm glad fizzy found somewhere that would take in her and the baby.  I hope the shelter can soon help them find some sort of transitional housing soon.

Yes it sounds like a good place where she can get free legal advice among other things,  I think they will also help her access more permanent accommodation.

I hope things have taken a turn for the better.  I am very glad she has found somewhere to stay and is not out on the streets with the baby phew.

I'm sorry, if this sounds harsh but both Fizzy and your son have messed up bIG time. They have a baby, she needs to come first, that means that both she and your son need to be working their butts off to support her.

Yes I agree and my son already works full time, he works shifts also and some weekends which makes it difficult for him to get a second job, but maybe not impossible, he is looking into ways of either getting more income or getting his outgoings down, will update.

Can't he just move back in with you?  That way he'll walk the entry requirements, April is coming soon and chances are he'll fail then.

I know you mentioned something about your husband not wanting them to live there, surely though, once they're here, they can move out as they'll then have Child Tax Credits?  Is your husband not willing to have them living there for a small amount of time?

Is fizzy able to post the exact wording of the refusal, has she ever read out the letter to you?

she is going to fax it over today at some point so will no more then.

My husband is still being a pain saying he can't live her and meet the visa requirements because he has to have accommodation for them all.

I have told my son to talk to him (in case anyone was wondering he is my sons dad) .

I have left it that he and my son should talk.

In terms of accommodation, the visa requirements are just that the home will not be overcrowded with them living there (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/policyandlaw/guidance/ecg/maa/#header14).

In order to accommodate 4.5 people (your granddaughter only counts as half a person), you need to show you have at least 3 rooms larger than 50 square feet available in your house... and one of those rooms can be a living room.

So if you have two bedrooms and a living room, you will meet the requirements.
