Lancashire, Blackburn, Darwen ?
« on: January 21, 2012, 09:50:08 PM »
Hi all!

I've been here for just over three years now. I am only now really getting up the nerve to meet new folks. I don't have to tell you how tricky this can e in such small towns.  ;D

To make things a bit more lonely- I work from home. I would love to even know if there are any other americans nearby!!!

I'm 46, married, and isolated!!!! LOL

Fingers and toes crossed !!!

Cheers,
Bernese

Oh man!  I grew up in Darwen, and I am so surprised to see it pop up on this forum!  Unfortunately I don't live there any longer and I don't expect to move back in the future.  But I hope you manage to meet some new people.  I can promise you that if you do meet some natives, you will find them very laid back, down-to-earth and friendly.

HobNob?!? Come back home!!!!!!  ;D

But seriously-thanks for posting. I totally agree that the folks here are friendly. It's the reason I really do love it around here. People are always asking "WHY did you move from California to DARWEN?!  ??? I always smile and say "It was for love, plus I think it's lovely here"-and I do!

I find the small town atmosphere really great. Yes, I am probably a bit more "outgoing" in personality and that is what holds me back from trying to make friends. I am a bit anxious to say "hi". I have said hello to neighbors and try to show up for block parties-but it takes awhile and people are very slow to warm. But I would LOVE to make friends!

Anyway, I will leave this hopeful little post here and see if anyone else might show up. Have you guys seen that You Tube video about the "Americans" video??

Harry Enfield: The Americans - "Isn't She Probably Pretty & Peek-A-Boo"

Because I just KNOW I must sound like these people! LOL! HELLOOOOO! HI!! hahah

Seriously though-I am not that "loud"-but I am getting lonely!! LOL!

Thanks again for posting!!

Hiya! My wife's from Blackburn so we get up that way a few times per year, but we actually live in Bristol. Maybe we could meet up sometime when we're up there visiting?
